Matt Damon Wants to Play "Marco Polo"
Variety reports that screenwriter William Monahan ("Kingdom of Heaven") has been tapped by Warner Bros. to pen a historical epic about the legendary explorer Marco Polo.
Matt Damon ("The Bourne Identity") will play the title character in a production based on Polo's own autobiography. No word yet on a director, although, with "Kingdom of Heaven" and the upcoming "Blood Meridian," Mr. Monahan and director Ridley Scott do seem to enjoy working as a team.

on May 05 2005 11:33 AM I remember seeing the 80's miniseries when I was a kid, and it was great. I'd like to get it on DVD ! I don't remember who starred, or if it was an American or European production. Anyway, this movie better be epic as Polo's trip was, and they'll naturally get Oscar nods. (Reply to this) |
