Weinsteins Are "Hoodwinked" by CGI Red Riding Hood Comedy

Although their new company has yet to receive an official name, that's not stopping the Weinstein brothers from making a few Cannes purchases. The brothers just snapped up North American rights to a nearly completed CGI comedy entitled "Hoodwinked! The True Story of Red Riding Hood."

Variety reports that the plot "follows a band of furry and feathered cops investigating a domestic disturbance at Granny's cottage. Characters created include a karate-kicking Red, a sarcastic Wolf, an oafish Woodsman and a thrill-seeking Granny." Obviously Bob & Harvey are hoping for their very own "Shrek" with this flick, which is being written and directed by Cory Edwards, Todd Edwards & Tony Leech. Members of the voice cast include Andy Dick ("The Hebrew Hammer"), Tom Kenny ("The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie"), Sally Struthers ("All in the Family"), David Ogden Stiers ("Beauty and the Beast"), and Patrick Warburton ("Seinfeld") as the Big Bad Wolf.

I am certain that the folks at Disney are going to (someday) seriously regret letting these guys leave and set up their own shop. Pretty much like they must be kicking themselves for letting Katzenberg leave, take 200 mil. and create DreamWorks.

Apparently, Eisner has stepped down at Disney, but unfortunately they replaced
him with an even bigger idiot in Iger.
