Oscar winning director Oliver Stone had a Memorial Day weekend to remember as he was charged with a misdemeanor DUI and an unnamed drug charge late Friday night in Hollywood. Stone, who is known for his politically charged films, is developing a new crime drama, "The Night Watchman," ironically about police corruption.

Also generating some negative legal publicity is chronic troublemaker Christian Slater, who was arrested Tuesday in New York for allegedly sexually harassing a woman in a grocery store. The reportedly intoxicated star, whose upcoming political thriller "The Deal" is due out this fall, apparently grabbed the buttocks of his victim, adding unsolicited groping to his already prolific criminal list of domestic battery, stomach biting, drunk driving, attempting to carry a loaded firearm onto a plane, and, critics agree, making the abysmally awful "Alone In The Dark" (an unprecedented 1% on the Tomatometer).

No, it's not a WB spinoff -- "The Gilmores of Beverly Hills," a comedy about a black family that moves to the rich neighborhood, is in the works by the hilarious twosome of Chris Rock and Adam Sandler, fresh off their butt-slapper "The Longest Yard." Sandler, who's already got over a dozen producing credits under his belt, will be sure to guide the comedy with his trademark golden goofball touch while writer Rock is set to star.

Church officials rejected requests to film the controversial book-to-film thriller, "The Da Vinci Code" on location at Westminster Abbey, claiming it to be "theologically unsound." "Code," starring Tom Hanks, Paul Bettany, Jean Reno, and helmed by Ron Howard, is currently in pre-production and is slated for a 2006 release.

And finally, some happy news…everyone's favorite celebutante and wax figure, Paris Hilton, has announced her engagement to her boyfriend, also named…Paris. Sounds at first like one of those Carrie Bradshaw-inspired single person self-weddings that are all the rage nowadays, but no -- the Paris in question is in fact Paris Latsis, himself an heir to some obscure fortune, making this hot pairing full of love and richness. Gotta say it -- that's hot.
