In Other News...Dave Chappelle, Willy Wonka and Jack White

MIA jokester Dave Chappelle resurfaced last Wednesday in true comic form -- by taking the stage at not one, but two comedy clubs in Los Angeles. Audiences at Hollywood Improv and The Comedy Store were treated to pure Chappelle, who by all accounts gave candid, impromptu sets and even addressed his highly publicized recent disappearance. The surprise performances come only months after Chappelle's infamous retreat to South Africa, which postponed production on his popular "Chappelle's Show" and fueled rumors of a mental breakdown and drug abuse. No word on when Chappelle will begin work on season three of his scathingly funny sketch show, but we also look forward to his untitled concert-comedy documentary with director Michel Gondry which was filmed last year and featured musical acts like Kanye West, The Roots, and the reunited Fugees.

It seems the original Willy Wonka has got his snozzberries in a bunch, as funnyman of yore Gene Wilder lashed out at the upcoming remake of his 1971 classic, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory in an interview with the UK's Daily Telegraph. Wilder, who is known for his dislike of profit-hungry Hollywood, accused producers of the highly anticipated Charlie and the Chocolate Factory of being in it solely for the cash: "It's just some people sitting around thinking: 'How can we make some more money?' Why else would you remake Willy Wonka?"

And finally, minimalist garage-rock wedding bells are in the air for White Stripes frontman Jack White, who announced his marriage to British model Karen Elson Wednesday in Brazil. The rocker-actor's news comes on the heels of former girlfriend Renee Zellweger's own flash wedding to country star Kenny Chesney, but this time he did the Cinderella Man actress one better -- while the Zellweger-Chesney nuptials took place barefoot on a beach, Jack White wedded his lady love on a canoe afloat on the Amazon River, in a traditional ceremony officiated by a shaman priest. Rock on!
