Paramount Confirms "Mission: Impossible 3" is a Go
Just a day after dropping their proposed "Watchmen" adaptation, Paramount Pictures announced that "Mission: Impossible 3" will go into production on July 18th. J.J. Abrams (TV's "Alias") will make his big-screen directorial debut on the highly anticipated sequel.
Joining leading man Tom Cruise ("Magnolia") will be Ving Rhames ("Pulp Fiction"), Jonathan Rhys-Meyers ("Vanity Fair"), Philip Seymour Hoffman ("Love Liza"), and Michelle Monaghan ("Unfaithful"). The "MI:3" screenplay was written by Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci, and the pair also have "The Legend of Zorro" on the horizon. ComingSoon.net shares the full press release from the Mountaintop, so have a look if you like.

on Jun 09 2005 09:32 AM finally with a good director at the helm for the first time, this might be the first good M:I movie. That is if De Palma and Woo haven't dug the franchise in too deep yet. (Reply to this) |

on Jun 09 2005 12:50 PM About damn time Well this has definitly taken long enough, with the lead actress and directer changes and Cruise making War of the Worlds first. Hopefully Abrams does a good job, big fan of Lost. Hey speelbergo both of the previous films were worth seeing and I loved the second. Here's to hoping the wait is worth while. (Reply to this) |

on Jun 09 2005 05:20 PM I can't really decide if like the MI movies thus far. The good part is that Cruise plays this type of character very well. He's not so good in movies like The Last Samurai (a movie i liked but much more for ken watanabe). In the end i'm sure i'll go see MI3 like the rest of you. The last two were certainly entertaining and worth seeing. What i do remember from them is not liking the female leads too much. oh well... (Reply to this) |
on Jun 09 2005 08:29 PM In reply to this comment (#822953) Totally agree. The female leads were one of it's mistakes, along with it's typical "virus" theme in M:I-2. But as long as it includes more of the twists and turns we saw in the first, it's going to be painful to watch. As for Cruise, I think he's actually getting better with age, give him a good script, and he'll run with it. (Reply to this) |

on Jun 09 2005 09:42 PM i'm so excited since jj abrams if directing. he does such a great job with alias and lost (though alias dipped a bit this year). kind of hoped he was writing it too because then he can add the complexity and intricity seen in his television shows. but at least he's attached. on Jun 10 2005 08:47 AM What Man i saw the first and in the first 20 mins knew how it was going to end. The second and im a massive fan of jon woo thats the only thing that made me go see it and i was still disapointed i figured out in 30 mins another MI: movie is just bleh. what a waste of time and money. Cruise could be doing somthing more original. As for war of the worlds count me in at the midnight showing. (Reply to this) |
