Searchlight Moving Forward With Boyle's "Sunshine"
by Scott Weinberg | June 10, 2005
Discuss Article
Variety reports some great news for all you Danny Boyle fans out there. Production will get underway on "Sunshine" this summer, and the unpredictable director already has three cast members pretty much locked up...

Cillian Murphy ("Batman Begins"), Chris Evans ("Fantastic Four"), and Michelle Yeoh ("Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon") will star in the sci-fi thriller about "a team of astronauts sent to discover what became of a space mission crew gone AWOL."

Working from a screenplay by frequent collaborator Alex Garland ("Halo"), Mr. Boyle ("28 Days Later," "Millions," "Trainspotting") has the green light from Fox Searchlight to get "Sunshine" rolling. (And yes, there will be a sequel to "28 Days Later," which Boyle will co-produce, but not direct.)

I'm in for anything by Mr. Boyle, and it should be interesting to see his take on the outer space film. Props for bringing Mr. Murphy with him.
