Rodney Dangerfield Finally Gets Some (Posthumous) Respect
by Scott Weinberg | June 22, 2005

The producers of the Ray Charles bio-pic "Ray" have purchased the rights to Rodney Dangerfield's life story, says Variety. The celebrated funnyman, who did the stand-up circuit for several decades while also appearing in movies such as "Caddyshack," "Back to School," "Easy Money," "Natural Born Killers," and several others I'll not mention out of respect for the dead, passed away following heart surgery in 2004.

Producers Howard and Karen Baldwin were given permission to tell Rodney's story on the silver screen, and the project will be based in part on Mr. Dangerfield's 2004 autobiography "It's Not Easy Bein' Me."

Did it bother anyone else that this incredible man had zero news coverage of his death? I found out online the very day he passed, but everyone I told was suprised.

When I imagine this film...
...all I can see in my head is a really bad prosthetics job. I mean...they'll probably get some actor who looks nothing like Rodney Dangerfield (because...does anyone else look like Rodney Dangerfield?) and then make him up to look like Rodney Dangerfield and he'll wind up looking like a space alien...a big plastic space alien.

**shudder**

I just hope they keep it real
When Dustin Hoffman played Lenny Bruce, the filmmakers couldn't resist playing out some of Lenny's jokes as if they'd really happened. I sure hope that when they do Rodney's life, they really do Rodney's life even though some of the public might prefer a long skit stitched together from his monologues.

Sounds stupid. I didn't think the guy was that funny and there for don't really care to hear his life story.

Don't forget...
Man on the Moon was a good movie about a great comedian. Also I didn't expect Jim Carrey could act and look just like him. Lets just hope that they can do the same thing.

He was an extremely funny man and is missed. He was one of the few comedians that made me laugh out loud. You must be more into dramas.
