Lions Gate Digs Into "The Descent"
by Scott Weinberg | June 24, 2005
Blog Article | Discuss Article
Summary

Neil Marshall, director of the resoundingly popular cult flick "Dog Soldiers," has struck a deal with Lions Gate to distribute his next movie in North America, says Variety. Written and directed by Mr. Marshall, "The Descent" is a horror movie that centers on "six young women on a caving adventure who are trapped underground and find themselves hunted by a race of humanoid predators." "The Descent" Novel
If this film is based on a novel of the same name that I read last year, it should be pretty interesting. In the novel, the subterranean race has been enslaving humans for centuries and an all-out war erupts when thier existence is discovered. Of course, it could end up being just another lame monster movie, like "The Cave" looks like it's going to be.

Sounds a bit like part of a book I read once. It was called "The Time Machine," by often stomped on author HG Wells. It seems like it might be better than "The Cave" though.

As far as I know, this movie has no connection to Jeff Long's "Descent" novel. I could be wrong, though. Happens all the time. ;)
