A hearty thanks to Movie City News for presenting the trailer to Peter Jackson's "King Kong" in sparkling Quicktime and without the annoying Volkswagen commercials. Just go enjoy the trailer. (Pretty awesome, eh?) Too bad we have to wait until December 14th to see the finished product, but hey, it's always great to have a big, roaring adventure movie to look forward to.

As you're well aware, this is Mr. Jackson's own interpretation of the 1933 classic "King Kong," which the filmmaker considers his very favorite film. The cast includes Jack Black ("School of Rock") as movie director Carl Denham, Adrien Brody ("The Pianist") as the heroic Jack Driscoll, and the very lovely Naomi Watts ("The Ring") as the very lovely Ann Darrow.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I want to go watch that trailer a second time...

I saw it last night. It mostly showed the characters in the jungle. Also, King Kong appeared to look smaller...

actually kong is only supposed to be around 25 feet tall, and he looked about that much in the trailer.

I think the ape in the Mighty Joe Young remake with Charlize Theron looked much better. I for one am a little disappointed.

Just from the preview it seems that Jack Black could really, really act. And I was really urprissed how good he was and thats just the trailer. Other than the Lord of the Rings with Ian McCullan, I havent noticed a trailer and said "Thats some great acting."

We also have to remember that the special effects are not quite finished. Jackson and WETA have some final decisions to make regarding Kong�s appearance. If things have improved since Gollum, we are in for another spectacular visual accomplishment. I for one have no doubts.

I'm just glad I'm the only one who was really disappointed in it. It looks too much like LOTR (which is not a bad thing, I just would've liked to have seen more distance from those films and this film stylistically) and I wasn't impressed with the ape at all. The whole fighting with the dinosaurs looked a little hokey to me. Trailers are supposed to grab your attention, and it didn't really.

King Kong is a remake and in the original he fought a T-Rex. I thought that King Kong looked pretty deadgum real, and I dont c how it looks like LotR. Just sak urself this, if Peter Jackson didnt direct, would it still seam "Lord of the Ring"ish

Movie looks great, I just hope they haven't shown too much of the movie already. And for those thinking the effects look crappy, well that's because the trailer was released on the net at TV resolutions so of course it will look bad. See it in cinemas, looks great.

For me, it's not so much about the look of the ape as the performance they can squeeze out of it, and we likely won't know that until December. Judging from Gollum, though, I'm pretty excited.

Gollum aside (which was amazing) the look of the dinosaurs in the trailer and even king kong was very disappointing. the dinosaurs looked like they were from a discovery channel special. and it does have a lotr feel... let's see: a bunch of armies, a scary gritty tribespeople resembling orcs, and a bunch of pretty landscapes. or you could make the comparison to the lost world....some dinosaurs and big creatures on an island (although even jurassic park's dinosaurs looked far better) and bring back a big creature to the mainland to terrorize a city. HOWEVER, all these details of special effects aside (and the comparisons really weren't serious as the stories are totally different), i'm still excited...b/c storytelling is far more important than the look of some dinos and king kong.
