In Other News...Pitt & Clooney, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and the Not-So-Fantastic Four
by Jen Yamato | July 08, 2005
Discuss Article
Life may soon imitate art as "Ocean's Eleven" buddies Brad Pitt and George Clooney become partners in a new Las Vegas hotel and casino to be built next year. Pitt, whose "Ocean's" character actually became an hotelier in the sequel, has long been involved in the project with club impresario Rande Gerber and will put his architectural yen to work designing the hotel. He will be joined by Clooney as the public façade of the outfit, which will be made official this fall.

Meanwhile, their "Ocean's Twelve" co-star Catherine Zeta-Jones can breathe a little easier today as her stalker, Dawnette Knight, was sentenced to three years in prison and hit with a 10-year restraining order. Knight, who has been jailed since last year for sending the "Legend of Zorro" actress detailed death threats, allegedly targeted her victim out of a jealous crush on Zeta-Jones' husband, Michael Douglas; the stalker menaced Zeta-Jones by promising to kill her at least three different ways and even threatened to feed her to dogs. Zeta-Jones, who says she has been forced to live a guarded life because of her tormentor, had no forgiveness or kind words at the sentencing, calling Knight 'evil.'

And finally, a not so fantastic premiere this week for the newest comic book adaptation to hit screens this summer, as Murphy's Law kicked in for the red carpet premiere of the already lambasted "Fantastic Four." After being ferried to New York's Liberty Island amid a downfall of wet weather, guests were soaked, star Jessica Alba got seasick, Ioan Gruffudd's girlfriend broke a Jimmy Choo heel, and the projector broke; ferrying back to Manhattan, guests were stranded and a spectacular fireworks show went off early -- and included some fantastically backward number four-shaped sparklers, reflecting the markedly flawed event against the night sky.

Funny, just after one of the producers said that Elektra failed at the box office because of marketing blips.

I think they just messed up the premiere to blame how shitty this movie will do on the premiere and not admit how poor the film actually is... hehehe

maybe they were just afraid to show the horrible film, and blamed it on a quote-unquote "broken projector."

all that bad stuff happening at the FF premiere. can anyone say "foreshadowing"?

you can't help but laugh at what happened at the fantastic four premiere, hopefully jessica alba will get out of the FF sequels so Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller can keep intertwining Nancy into the "Sin City" sequels cuz i sure do love watching her dance on stage

As do I. Can't wait for the sequel (of Sin City, that is). As for the premiere....shit happens.
