Paramount is Sending Us Back to "Summer School"
Screenwriters Kyle Pennekamp & Scott Turpel have been enlisted by Paramount to pen a remake of the 1987 comedy "Summer School," says Variety.
The original flick, which saw Mark Harmon ("Worth Winning") as a smart-aleck summer school teacher surrounded by young kooks, will be re-imagined as something that sounds a little ... different. The new "Summer School" will focus on "the chaotic summer season in high school life, centering on a hard-nosed teacher aiming to be the next principal and the student who becomes his nemesis in achieving that goal."
So it's more "Ferris Bueller" than it is "Summer School," actually.

I'm sure there would be more modern situations (i.e. the internet), sarcasm, and humour. However, I think they'd have to come up with a better and more modern character comparable to "Chainsaw". Meow Skywalker writes: on Jul 13 2005 11:49 AM It's so different than the original, why even bother calling it a remake? Why not just call it a new movie, and find a new title? Do they really think there's a huge group of Summer School fans who'll see the new movie just because it's a "remake"? These are the questions that keep me up at night. Also, did Adam and Eve have bellybuttons? (Reply to this) |
