Ricci to Play Witherspoon's "Penelope"
Christina Ricci will star in producer Reese Witherspoon's "Penelope," says Variety. First-timer Mark Palansky will direct the "modern-day fable about a woman under a curse who tries to end a lifelong string of bad luck."
Screenwriter Leslie Caveny will also make her big-screen debut on the project, which plans to begin shooting in early 2006.
Witherspoon's Type-A production shingle will be overseeing the project, which can't get rolling until Ms. Ricci finishes work on Craig Brewer's "Hustle & Flow" follow-up, "Black Snake Moan."
