"The Omen" Scares Up Two Stars
by Scott Weinberg | August 10, 2005
Discuss Article
Not long ago we informed you that John Moore ("Flight of the Phoenix") was hired by Fox to helm their remake of "The Omen," and now comes word (from Variety) that actors Liev Schreiber and Julia Stiles are close to signing contracts to star.

Schreiber ("The Manchurian Candidate") would play the Gregory Peck role, Stiles ("Save the Last Dance") the Lee Remick role.

Working from an adapted screenplay by Dan McDermott, the new "Omen" is set to begin production this October.

The Omen
Why don't they just re-release the original to theaters like they did The Exorcist?
It would probably end up making more money.

re-release
Jaws for its 30th anniversary. Of course, it is too late now but that is what I would have done. I am sure it would have made a few bucks.

As far as Omen they should just call it Omen V on second thought ugh I cant stand to think of another re-make or sequel

But if I'm remembering the book right (it's been a while since I've read it) Liev is closer in age to the character described in the book. Peck was actually too old for the part in the original. Julia Stiles is a bit young, but she's pretty, so I guess that helps.

Oh, come on! If they remake CitizenKane with a hot 20-something cast from various WB shows, it'll be a modern classic, no doubt! Lotsa product placements, too!
