The Hollywood Reporter brings news on one of the universe's most hotly anticipated sequels: "Garfield 2"

Seems that both Breckin Meyer and Jennifer Love Hewitt have also signed their contracts, and that Bill Murray is presently in negotiations to reprise the title role.

New arrivals include actors Lucy Davis & Billy Connolly and director Tim Hill.

"Garfield 2" is scheduled for release next summer.

"Hotly anticipated"? Is he for real?
I watched Garfield once. It was one of the most tedious two-hour sessions of my entire life.

Truly this is proof that there is no God. Or, perhaps just a sign of the Apocalypse.

If they can just capture the feel of the comic this time, it'll actually be really good. At its best, Garfield is a downright hilarious comic strip. They just need to stay a bit more true to it.

The sad part is, this will probably make money.

I agree with Riley. You're better than this Bill! Do not take this role!

My guess is Murray is either going to get a dump truck full of money backed up to his house, or he's going to get free reign over a couple pet projects. But is it worth it?

The cartoon is still the best.

Well... all right. I just get very nervy in these situations.

I understand. The mere mention of "Garfield 2" in a headline makes all of us... nervous. Yeah, the comic strip is awesome, though.

Trivia question for you all:

How many sequels has Bill Murray done?

A: Only one. Ghostbusters 2, and that was only because buds Ramis and Ackroyd wouldn't leave him alone about it.

I've got NO idea what the studio could possibly throw at him to sign onto this...ahem, project, especially after Murray's current string of critically acclaimed roles, so I'm treating this report with more than a little skepticism.

The first one wasn't so bad, I quite liked it

Yes, but you're Uwe Boll, so why should we listen to your opinions on what makes a good movie?
PS: I hear that there was talk about a Ghostbusters 3, but that Murray absolutely refused to do another one. Now there's a man with a lot of integrity. Not that Ghostbusters wasn't good, but enough is enough.

Come on, it's Garfield, what were you expecting? Jim Jarmush?

It wasn't meant to be anything else than a light and fun film, and it was just that.

Should make a stellar double bill with Dukes of Hazzard 2.

The Dukes of Hazzard Kicked ASS!! I loved that movie! It's the best movie of the year so far....I never saw the first "garfield". The strip is GREAT!

The Dukes of Hazzard kicked ass.....right. For real though, how the hell did this movie get greenlit, for even the original movie, let alone a sequel. This makes less sense than Deuce Bigalow's sequel.

Hot commodity
Why has Bill Murray, seemingly over night, become the quinteessential actor? The dude's a 1 trick pony (a pony most of us like, but his LIT role was the same ole show). To think he's better than this is interesting.... What exactly does that mean? Just rambling now....
