Splinter Cell to Operate at a New Studio
by Gareth J. Von Kallenbach | August 15, 2005
Discuss Article
Back in December 2004 it was announced that Peter Berg would be helming the videogame adaptation "Splinter Cell" for Paramount Pictures, but since that time we haven't heard a peep about the feature, and now comes word that Paramount may be out and DreamWorks in -- along with a new screenwriter.

Initial word was that Berg, J.T. Petty and John J. McLaughlin had written the script, but with all the executive-shifting at Par it seems the project was stalled, and now Berg has moved on to direct "The Kingdom," leaving vacancies all over the place.

Apparently the film will now be moving to DreamWorks and Daniel Pyne ("The Manchurian Candidate") will be scripting the feature.

Wow
There is hope that this could be, dare I say, a GOOD film, even if the source material is a video game, The Manchurian Candidate(both of them) was an incredible movie, so I'm hoping that this one could be incredible too.

This is to bad, Berg's a talented guy, so I would have liked to have seen his version. But Pyne is a good writer, still they have to get another good director to replace Berg.

As a fan of the video game i have high hopes for this movie, but many doubts as well.So many franchises from other forms of media have been destroyed on the big screen,(dare devil, resident evil, and garfield just to name a few)so im hoping who ever makes this movie takes it seriously.Other concerns of mine are of course story, and casting.Who in the hell could they get to play sam fischer, his rough sarcastic voice, and personality in the game is what makes that character,so who could pull this off in the live action version.Ive heard rumors of thomas jane, which in my opinion wouldnt be bad,but im just not sure if he could pull this off.

I got an idea
They should just force Micheal Ironside out of retirement, get him some grey hair plugs and six pack, then join forces with director Paul Verhoven for the ultimate reunion. If they're lucky they could have an Ahhhnold cameo!

....MALEEENAAHHHHHGG!!!
