Lane, Jane, and Rourke on Tap for Weinstein's "Killshot"Diane Lane, Thomas Jane, and Mickey Rourke have been tapped by the Weinstein brothers to star in "Killshot," which is an adaptation of an Elmore Leonard novel, says Variety.
John Madden ("Shakespeare in Love") is directing, Caleb Deschanel ("The Passion of the Christ") is on cinematography detail, and screenwriter Hossein Amini is on the adaptation duty.
"Leonard's novel follows what happens when a real estate agent (Lane) and her husband (Jane) fail at an extortion scheme, landing them both in the Federal Witness Protection program -- and on a pair of hit men's "to do" list. It's understood Rourke will play one of the hit men."
Other films inspired by the works of Elmore Leonard include "Get Shorty," "Out of Sight," and "Jackie Brown" on one hand -- and "Be Cool," "52 Pick-Up," "The Big Bounce," and "Stick," on the other.
Production is set to get underway on "Killshot" this October in Toronto.
