Universal to Turn a New "Screw" Into James' Classic
A new rendition of Henry James' classic story "The Turn of the Screw" will soon be hitting the screens courtesy of Universal Pictures, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
"Henry James' classic creepy tale "The Turn of the Screw" is getting the big-screen treatment courtesy of Universal Pictures and Vertigo Entertainment. Universal has acquired "The Turning," a pitch that Chad and Carey Hayes will write and Vertigo's Roy Lee and Doug Davison will produce.
The Hayes brothers have come up with a contemporary take on the story of a caretaker hired to look after two orphaned children at their family's isolated estate. Upon the caretaker's arrival, the young woman finds that the children are not quite what they seem, and that she might be losing them to malevolent spirits with a secret tie to their past.

UweBoll writes: on Sep 20 2005 02:41 PM The book is great but think about it: A woman alone with 2 children in an isolated house, with evil forces at play, people who haven't read the book will think this is very similar to "The others" (even though the stories are actually very different) (Reply to this) |

Ashron writes: on Sep 20 2005 04:13 PM This one will take some really good kids. I mean, like Haley Joel Osment and Dakota Fanning caliber kids (but of course, Haley's too old and Dakota is booked for like the next twenty years.) They did make a movie out of the story back in the 60's (I think) called "The Innocents." It was well done and very creepy. Hopefully this one will be just as good. (Reply to this) |
