Fox Plans Another Visit from "The Star Chamber"
by Scott Weinberg | September 22, 2005
Discuss Article
The Hollywood Reporter indicates that 20th Century Fox is moving ahead with a remake of the 1983 Michael Douglas thriller "The Star Chamber."

In the original film, which was written by Roderick Taylor and directed by Peter Hyams, "Michael Douglas starred as an idealistic judge who, frustrated by having to let dangerous criminals go free because of legal loopholes, joins a secret society of judges bent on taking justice and punishment into their own hands."

No word yet on who'll be directing the remake, but Fox, Hyde Park Entertainment, and producers Matthew Baer & Frank Spotnitz are on the hunt.

Stop All Remakes!!!
The original is mediocre, at best. Recent remakes and TV updates have all been terrible, as evidenced by the both the crtics opinions and the lack of box-office performance. Hollywood will continue to foist this junk on the public until they get they message that we would much rather see original, intelligent movies than dumbed-down, SFX driven remakes.

The original is an underrated gem
"The Star Chamber," along with "Best Seller," is one of the most underrated movies of the 1980s. I have a feeling the remake will be dumbed-down, like most are nowadays.

Why?
Hollywood would rather make lame remakes these days(The Fog) than actually come up with an original idea.
The Star Chamber was a good flck and should be left alone.
