by Scott Weinberg | September 30, 2005
Blog Article | Discuss Article
Summary

A long-gestating project between Roger Daltrey, Nigel Sinclair, and Mike Myers looks like it might be coming back to life sometime soon, according to Variety. The untitled film will focus on the rock band The Who ... and Mike Myers will be playing legendary drummer Keith Moon. Back to Article

Sounds initially weird, but I really think Myers can pull it off.

Sinclair has a pretty ugly movie history - I didn't even like either of his fresh movies particularly much - but fortunately he's just an executive producer. A good director and script could make this a decent flick - The Who sure deserves one.

This has a chance to be very good...

or, like Studio 54, very bad.

Myers loves this 70's stuff...it's in him...which made Austin Powers better than it should have been.

But....

Why do comedic actors always eventually want to win an Oscar? What's next? Rob Schneider as Terry Fox? Ellen Degeneris as Terri Schiavo? How about Chris Rock as Nelson Mandela?

Mike Myers?
Ok, I think Mike Myers is a good actor in some movies, but some movies suck.I really cant picture,or belive, Mike Myers playing the most awesome drummer that ever lived, but I'll have to see the movie for myself to belive they are actully making it. But the who and keith moon really deserve a good movie.

Ditto that the Who and Moon deserve a great movie. As for Mike Myers: he can do the accent, he's perfect physically, he's even been good in the few dramatic roles he's had. One overiding characteristic of Keith Moon is that the man was FUNNY ! Mike Myers....... Who better ?

this is gonna blow!!!
mike myers will never be believable as Keith Moon...Jason Schwartzman (i think thats his name, the guy out of I HEART HUCKABEES)would be perfect - he is vertually identical physically, is young enough and dosen't bring any pre-conceived baggage to the table...PLEASE SEE SENSE - this has the potential to be a truly great rock n roll movie, his story is legendary - DON'T LET AUSTIN POWERS ANYWHERE NEAR THIS.

Good call, i think if Love Guru wasnt made, alot of people wouldnt be so quick to dismiss myers, it could work.

But Schwartzman could have a breakout role if he were to do this.

I completely agree in every single way that Jason Schwartzman would make an incredible Keith Moon. I also completely agree that the Who deserves a better director and a better actor, and Mike Meyers is all very well, but c'mon. It kills me to think of him as Keith, and that's not just because I'm a rabid Wholigan. Why is life so cruel when it comes to the film industry. This movie could be either incredible or really bad.... I just hope that Sinclair doesn't mess it up too bad.

Pete, Roger, do something!!!

Well The only thing i hate about this film is Mike Myers's age. He's 45 and Keith was 32 when he died. IT's not that big but still.

Gah, why must Hollywood take a huge dump all over our beloved idols? MIKE MEYERS? Give me a friggin' break.

Daltry must be getting senile to be going along with this steaming turd sandwich of a project.

:(
