Trailer Bulletin: Pinocchio 3000
by Scott Weinberg | November 09, 2005
Discuss Article
From Filmax (Spain) and CineGroup (France) comes an all-new CG feature that's been snatched up for North America release by Lions Gate Films. And yes, you read that right, Collodi-fans, it's called "Pinocchio 3000." Check out the trailer right here.

"This update on the classic fairy tale of Pinocchio is set in the year 3000, where an ever-kindly Geppetto has built a robot boy equipped with human emotions. In an entirely technological city, ruled by progress-obsessed Mayor Scamboli, children struggle to retain a place for play in an ultra-efficient world. Meanwhile, Geppetto and his assistant, Spencer the Cyber Penguin, perfect their prototype. But Cyberina the holographic fairy has decreed that he must earn his heart by learning the difference between right and wrong before he can be a real boy. Some of the main characters are voiced by Malcolm McDowell, Howie Mandel, and Whoopi Goldberg."

LG hasn't divulged a definite release date, but expect the thing to be on DVD by Labor Day.

I think I'm going to cry. Why does hollywood insist on ruining my favorite childhood fairytales. Next thing you know, they'll be doing the Wild Swans, set in the year 3025

Pinocchio: The Final Frontier
What is it with Star Trek actors voicing cartoons? Not that I'm complaining, it's just an interesting coincidence.

Why do people who have dung packed into their skulls get to greenlight movies like this? Malcolm McDowell hasn't made a good movie since "Caligula;" Howie Mandel has never made a good movie and Whoopi Goldberg has her little gold man, so she just doesn't give a rat's ass anymore. But that doesn't mean we have to pay them for making this junk. Just stay away, folks. Let your ticket dollars speak for you by spending them to see creative, original films instead of crap like this.

so true about whoopie...
i know it must be hard for her to get roles but come on lady, you do have an oscar...and you must be rich..just coast and appear in the occasional indie film.

with that being said i think it sucks that hollywood cant find a place for her in good films...nor do they even care to cateer to african american women...such a shame.

what, no robot Jiminy Cricket? may your conscience be your guide, and if these people had a conscience, they would not be making this film. what total garbage.
