Director of "Anger" to Tackle 9/11 Aftermath
by Scott Weinberg | November 16, 2005
Discuss Article
Mike Binder, writer/director of the dry comedy "The Uspide of Anger," will write a story about one man's struggle with the loss of his family at the World Trade Center. Oddly, that man will be played by Adam Sandler.

According to Variety, "Writer-director Mike Binder is the latest filmmaker ready to process the tragedy of 9/11, and he's got Don Cheadle and Adam Sandler poised to join him.

That duo is circling "Reign O'er Me," a Binder-scripted drama that Sony Pictures Entertainment is angling to acquire and make next year with a budget under $20 million.

Sandler would play a man who lost his family on Sept. 11 and has never recovered from his grief. He runs into his former college roommate (Cheadle), who has become a doctor and who is determined to help his ex-roomie come to grips with his loss."

Sandler did an awesome job in Punch-Drunk Love, but I am having a hard time seeing him in this role.

I think it could definatly work. I wasnt a huge fan of Spanglish, but the adam did a very good job. I think he has the potential to pull it off. Cheadle will definatly put his A game up once again. He has amazed me over the years.

No. NO. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Adam Sandler can't act out of his ass, especially when he does a serious role. It also doesn't help that the story is half-baked.

What? Please ditch Adam Sandler for an ACTOR! A real actor and no I dont want Paul Walker, or Tom Cruise sean Penn Maybe? Or Adrian Brody? Oh gosh I would even perfer Colin Pharrel (But it would make me nautious) Anybody but a washed up SNL comedian, shit they might as well cast Will Farrel.

You guys have no idea what you are talking about. Did you even see punch drunk love?? He should have been nominated for that movie. I also think he did a great job in spanglish, he really sold that character. And don cheadle is awesome.

So far this is the only future 9/11 project that I think could be good/honor the victims in a timely manner. A good move for this project would be if they donated a portion of ticket sales to the memorial/museum they're building on the WTC site.
