Trailer Bulletin: Pirates of the Caribbean 2
by Scott Weinberg | December 01, 2005
Blog Article | Discuss Article
Summary

If you're anything like me, you get geeky little goose bumps when you think about seeing the two upcoming "Pirates" sequels. If that's the case, then turn up your speakers and click right here, because Yahoo! has the very first trailer for "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest." Back to Article

Jack Sparrow: The Movie
Is this really a teaser for Pirates of the Carribean 2? Or is it a teaser for the Jack Sparrow Movie? I thought the new trailer was ok, but it underrated the presence of Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightly. Don't get me wrong. Johnny Depp's performance as Jack Sparrow was by far the high point in the first film. But I'm getting scared that after seeing the teaser, Dead Man's Chest might overuse Depp's charector. Overall though, this is by far my most anticipated film of next summer!

Meh, the trailer is going to feature Jack merely because he is what primarily sold the first movie. I agree though, hopefully it isn't just all Jack.

Umm, the man was nominated for an oscar. I think that it is a pretty safe bet that they are going to give sparrow a lot of screen time.

Harris, Skarsgard, and most of all Nighy are excellent additions, and I hope that this movie kicks ass. I can hardly wait, I got the geeky little goose bumps.

I actually enjoyed the Trailer. Yes, it kind of under-represented the other members of the cast but it's a teaser trailer, so that's okay. I can't wait to see this.

An oh yeah ninjas are better :)

The Johnny Depp Movie
Are we to say that the first Pirates WASN'T "The Johnny Depp Movie"? Even so, he was everyone's favorite character so naturally they are going to play it up big time in the trailer. Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley are in the movie, sure, but that's not going to excite anyone as much as Captain Jack. It's all about the marketing.

I have been excited for these movies, and the trailer excites me more, but only now after seeing the trailer, and seeing more zombie pirates, have I started to worry that the sequels might be weak. We'll see.

That's because Mr. Fat is not in the 2nd one, he's in the 3rd one.

From what I've heard, Chow Yun Fat only makes an appearance towards the very end of the second film as a way of segueing to the third film, which just happened to be filmed simultaneously, a la Lord of the Rings and the Matrix sequels.

Hopefull OB and KK die
You know, the problem with this movie won't be the over indulgence of Captain Jack, but the inclusiong of Bloom and Knightly... Neither one of them is marketable on their own (though they sure know how to hit those tabloids). POTC was a fun tale, but to garner the same sort of critical success (though, in all truth, like the rest of us, critics are worth their weight in shit), the sequels need to focus far less on OB and KK (kill them now!).

'Pirates' was alright the 1st time I watched it. The 2nd time it was the most boring, cheesy overblown thing. Orlando can't act, Keira is an annoying useless damsel in distress and Johnny's overrated. They made two and three at the same time and they could be looking at a reapeat of the Matrix sequels disaster.
