Trailer Bulletin: Pirates of the Caribbean 2
by Scott Weinberg | December 01, 2005
Discuss Article
If you're anything like me, you get geeky little goose bumps when you think about seeing the two upcoming "Pirates" sequels. If that's the case, then turn up your speakers and click right here, because Yahoo! has the very first trailer for "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest."

"Captain Jack Sparrow discovers he owes a blood debt to the legendary Davey Jones, Captain of the ghostly Flying Dutchman. With time running out, Jack must find a way out of his debt or else be doomed to eternal damnation and servitude in the afterlife. Making matters worse, Sparrow's problems manage to interefere with the wedding plans of a certain Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann, who are forced to join Jack on yet another one of his misadventures."

Returning stars include Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, Keira Knightley, Jack Davenport, Jonathan Pryce, Geoffrey Rush, and the lovably villainous duo of Mackenzie Crook and Lee Arenberg. New to the series are Naomie Harris, Stellan Skarsgard, and Bill Nighy.

Also back for another dip in the pool are director Gore Verbinski and screenwriters Ted Elliott & Terry Rossio -- which means the sequel is going to rock the proverbial house. (They're good writers.)

Jack Sparrow: The Movie
Is this really a teaser for Pirates of the Carribean 2? Or is it a teaser for the Jack Sparrow Movie? I thought the new trailer was ok, but it underrated the presence of Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightly. Don't get me wrong. Johnny Depp's performance as Jack Sparrow was by far the high point in the first film. But I'm getting scared that after seeing the teaser, Dead Man's Chest might overuse Depp's charector. Overall though, this is by far my most anticipated film of next summer!

Meh, the trailer is going to feature Jack merely because he is what primarily sold the first movie. I agree though, hopefully it isn't just all Jack.

Umm, the man was nominated for an oscar. I think that it is a pretty safe bet that they are going to give sparrow a lot of screen time.

Harris, Skarsgard, and most of all Nighy are excellent additions, and I hope that this movie kicks ass. I can hardly wait, I got the geeky little goose bumps.

I actually enjoyed the Trailer. Yes, it kind of under-represented the other members of the cast but it's a teaser trailer, so that's okay. I can't wait to see this.

An oh yeah ninjas are better :)

The Johnny Depp Movie
Are we to say that the first Pirates WASN'T "The Johnny Depp Movie"? Even so, he was everyone's favorite character so naturally they are going to play it up big time in the trailer. Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley are in the movie, sure, but that's not going to excite anyone as much as Captain Jack. It's all about the marketing.

I have been excited for these movies, and the trailer excites me more, but only now after seeing the trailer, and seeing more zombie pirates, have I started to worry that the sequels might be weak. We'll see.

That's because Mr. Fat is not in the 2nd one, he's in the 3rd one.
