Back Again to the Additional Future?
Summary
Guardian Unlimited shares some Michael J. Fox news from Moviehole.net and the lovable guy had a few interesting things to say about the (small) possibility of an additional "Back to the Future" installment. Yes, you're skpetical right now, but deep down you know you'd go see "Back to the Future Part 4." Don't even deny it. Back to Article

That said, Fox has carried himself with great dignity over the last few years, so if he gets another crack at Marty, and Zemeckis gets on board, and they get a good script, I'm all for it. I wish the fella nothing but the best. (Reply to this) |

lunabar79 writes: on Dec 22 2005 08:44 AM uh no Back the The Future is so completely "80s", and that's the way it should stay. Having a new cast would kill the original spirit (Hollywood would probably modernize the franchise to death and add teen hotties/wacky gross-out comedy) and bringing back the old would feel so sad. It's like, you can never go back to your teen years or the house you grew up in, it won't ever be the same. Stop trying!! Michael J Fox is indeed "lovable"! He rules. (Reply to this) |

dylan21484nj writes: on Dec 22 2005 08:53 AM the first is a classic, the other two are good on an "ehh, alright" level. come on Fox, don't do this. leave it as a trilogy and that's that. besides, you should try out as an Agent for the next Matrix movie instead, since you're probably shaking so fast you can dodge bullets. seriously, no Back to the Future 4, Michael. don't be like Stallone, don't whore yourself out and revive a tired franchise just for another paycheck. IMAmoose24 writes: on Dec 22 2005 09:24 AM I agree. The movie would be nothing without christopher Lloyd. He was a comic genius in the earlier movies and it would be a shame not to include him in the 4th one. (Reply to this) |

dracus writes: on Dec 22 2005 09:48 AM The Back To The Future movies are those special movies that you can pop into the DVD player and enjoy anytime because of the era they were made. While I'd love to see another one that would match their quality I don't think it's possible because of the old saying;"Timing is eveything." (Reply to this) |

fenderson writes: on Dec 22 2005 11:13 AM What about his Parkinsons? This has to be a joke. Michael J. Fox has Parkinsons' disease! He quit his television show because he wasn't able to handle the physical movement, and since then he's done nothing but voice work. Unless they're going to confine his character to a wheelchair or some such thing, this isn't going to happen. And as much as I like Fox, let's face it: he's no Christopher Reeve. (Reply to this) |

synergyred writes: on Dec 22 2005 02:38 PM It would be great to see Fox back of screen. He's a wonderful actor. Unfortunatly, I do not know how advanced his Parkinsons is but it might get in the way of his audience understanding his character. As much as I love Back to the Future, I'm uneasy about this. I mean, it could be GREAT but it could also kill one of my childhood loves. (Reply to this) |

UselessRob writes: on Dec 22 2005 06:12 PM Pointless. It's sad that Hollywood is obsessed with unnecessary sequels just to make a quick buck at the expense of the originals. It sounds like MJF wants to do something more for his age. So why not come up with a new, slightly original part for him to play which fits? Write a decent comedy for him and you'll make just as much cash I'm sure. Everyone loves him. We'd all go see it if it was good anyway. Now, lets get serious. How about Teen Wolf 3? (Reply to this) |

malaguy writes: on Dec 23 2005 08:03 AM let me sum it up for all you peabrains On the official record, it has been said, resaid, rehashed and then resaid over and over again by both of the Bob's (that's Zemeckis and Gale for those who aren't true fans.) that there will NEVER be a BTTF4. NEVER. they have both repeatedly said that there is NO STORY to do, no Delorean left, and that the train at the end of 3 was a joke for Doc's character and nothing more than a plot device to reunite the cast for one last scene at the end. now, as far a "moviehole" - what an unreliable P.O.S. website. they never have anything "exclusive" that turns out to be true. these are just more of the unsubstantiated rumours that have been flying around since part 3 came out. it says "The End" - not "To be Continued", i mean c'mon - get with the program. now don't get me wrong - I LOVE BTTF - the whole movie (that means all 3 chapters - b/c that's all they are - seperate chapters of one story). I've wanted to make movies since i was 6 years old and saw part one. my interests in movies only strengthend as i got older, but it all started with BTTF. now i'm a film major at a large university, and i'll tell you - from a filmmakers standpoint, there's no movie left in the series. anything thought up would be dishonorable to the originals, and be so fucked over that it would tarnish the indeliable image the franchise has now. so don't buy this shit people. you know some jackass website reporter sprang some question on MJF about what it would take to bring him back, and you know his whole answer was just a hypothetical ponderance. now all of you stop bitching about something that is not gonna happen. besides, all the true BTTF fans are still waiting for the animated series to come out on DVD, not waiting around for a part 4 that's NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN! dylan21484nj writes: on Dec 27 2005 01:13 PM In reply to this comment (#829286) dude, what is YOUR major malfunction? you can't take a joke? you remind me of the South Park episode when Timmy joins a rock band and bleeding hearts like YOU don't want Timmy in the rock band because he's retarded and in a wheelchair and they felt bad for him even though he was having fun. stop trying to be some kind of misguided champion of the handicapped, man. Chrstopher Reeve would make jokes about paraplegics and HE WAS ONE. what about that movie The Ringer? it's about a guy faking to be a retard to fix the Special Olympics and it's actually endorsed by the Special Olympics THEMSELVES. i even know of a comedian who has Tourette's and uses his Tourette's in his comedy (go to www.laughterbylou.com and see for yourself). sometimes you just have to laugh at the sucky parts of life or else you'd be depressed all the time. i'm sorry that your sense of humor is so poor that you can't laugh at a joke, but it's not my fault you got offended by a JOKE. loosen your sphincter and relax, man. not all humor is wholesome and kid-friendly. if every comedian were wearing striped shirts and smashing watermelons (oops, i mentioned watermelons, so you might think i'm making a racist joke) or spouting "What a country!" in a thick Russian accent, humor would get tired and stale in a hurry. in short, STOP TELLING PEOPLE WHAT THEY SHOULD OR SHOULD NOT FIND HUMOROUS. let people decide on their own. Bigbrother writes: on Dec 29 2005 04:27 PM In reply to this comment (#829295) my opinion There's a difference between good natured comedy which points out a defect in society and taking a cheap shot at someone who hasn't done anything to you. You can't put a comment like that out there and get upset when someone calls you on it. Plus another difference is the comediens you pointed out are funny and frankly you're not...but that's just my opinion. (Reply to this) |

dylan21484nj writes: on Dec 29 2005 07:36 PM In reply to this comment (#829297) so all humor must point at the wrongs in society like some late night talk show monologue? stop thinking humor should adhere to some neat template like that. like i stated before, if all humor came in the same form, it wouldn't seem so humorous anymore because it will become stale and overused. so sometimes people have to step outside those templates and boundaries created earlier. and yes, these jokes may come off sounding off-color and vulgar, but didn't Galileo's theory that the universe wasn't geocentric sound vulgar and inappropriate in its time because the common belief was that the earth was the center of the universe? it's a constant evolution of ideas, whether it's science or comedy or anything else. it's human nature to fear and hate change and new ideas because humans are creatures of habit. people like "the norm" because it gives them the illusion of safety but they forget that the only thing that is truly "the norm" is change itself. that is the true reason that you didn't like my joke, because my joke wasn't "the norm" and didn't fit some little preconceived template of humor. but hey, if you personally didn't laugh, that's your prerogative. humor, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. but there are probably people out there who did take it for what it was and laughed. your opinion is just that - your opinion, suited to you and you alone. you don't speak for everyone else nor are you some great judge of what is or is not humorous. you are just you and your opinions are just your opinions, nothing more. if i really wanted to take a cheap shot at him like you think i was doing, i would have done so in a serious statement and verbally attacked him. but that's why jokes are jokes, they're not meant to be taken seriously. it's implied in the very definition of the word. and you couldn't tell from my initial joke that it wasn't a cheap shot at Michael J. Fox? after i made the joke, i went into a serious comment hoping he wouldn't try to resurrect a beloved franchise that should remain a piece of great film history and not be dragged out just for the sake of making another paycheck. if you had read my joke and attempted to read between the lines, you would have seen that my joke was a commentary on someone who is risking embarassing himself and ruining a beloved movie franchise because he ran out of new ideas and is looking for another quick payday. and as beloved and admired an actor he is, Michael J. Fox could be doing a very foolish thing by doing this. look at what Stallone is doing, he's bringing back Rocky, an idea - while good in its time- has been exhausted through 4 sequels. i would just hate to see another franchise dragged out of the closet for another go. we've already been down that road before, do we need to do it yet again? besides, shouldn't this whole thing be taken down? this whole BttF 4 rumor was debunked last h sho (Reply to this) |

dylan21484nj writes: on Jan 01 2006 09:41 PM In reply to this comment (#829300) you know, it's one thing to make an off-color joke, but another to resort to childish, tired, and very uncreative "mother jokes". ooooo you fucked my mother, real inventive. come up with that one all by yourself, didja? please, i heard countless "your mother" jokes just like that when my buddies and i would trade "your mother" jokes at the lunch table wayyyyy back in MIDDLE SCHOOL (that's junior high to some of you). if you're gonna be malicious to someone, put the Snap Book down and come up with something better than what pre-teens normally come up with in the school yard after chowing down on Sloppy Joes, Jamacian patties, tater-tots, and chocolate milk. but then again, you probably still are in middle school, which explains your use of a lame-ass "your mother" joke. are you and your school buddies sitting in front of your computer at a sleepover during your Christmas vacation, high-fiving each other and saying "Yeah, we showed that motherfucker!" as you download internet porn and hoping your mother doesn't find it? (see? there's a joke involving your mother that is a little more creative than involving a bukkake session.) come on, i'm openly encouraging you to try a little harder with these insults, Wooby. i defy you to impress me with an off-color-yet-still-witty joke. but if you somehow can't muster up some kind of creativity and put some thought into your insults, i urge you to shut the fuck up and let the arguement die before you make yourself look even more stupid than you already do for picking fights on the INTERNET. internet fighting is like the Special Olympics - even if you win, you're still retarded. Wooby writes: on Jan 02 2006 09:09 AM In reply to this comment (#829302) Couldn't help myself, Dylan. Mother jokes are universal (and ageless, regardless of what you might think). The sad fact is, you missed the irony of the whole thing. If you think for 1 second that there is a difference between what I typed and your pathetic little cut on Mr. Fox, you're sorely mistaken. Then again, that's an adult perspective (I'm 32, by the way). You're still typing paragraphs upon paragraphs to rationalize away inappropriate behavior. And, trust me, you're the only one here who's buying your bullshit opinion. See...even if someone were to accept your pathetic insult challenge, you've got the advantage of using cold, hard facts when you attack a famous person's shortcomings. I don't know your history, nor the history of those you care about. Maybe your father is a former MLB star that is now battling cancer and can't even pick up a bat. Maybe your mother is a former runway model that suffered a horrible car wreck and is now an amputee. Maybe your sister was an aspiring doctor in med school, but thanks to that violent gang rape on the way home from a post-finals party, she can now barely tie her shoes. Maybe you're the star quarterback at your high school that got caught by the media puffing peters under the bleachers after the big game, and blew your full ride (pardon the pun) to one of the most prestigious, yet conservative, football schools in the nation. I don't know. But if I did, how would you like me to exploit those things through jokes, on a worldwide web forum that happens to be dedicated to your craft? And just to say something remotely on topic...I vote NO to a 4th BTTF. Wake up, Hollywood. If you guys would spend as much time nurturing and funding original talent as you do rehashing finished works, we would have dozens of killer new sci-fi trilogies by now. (Reply to this) |

Bonowski writes: on Jan 02 2006 09:27 AM ok...here's the deal. Back to the Future IV would be awesome. I'd be pumped about it. BUT, Mike would have to play Marty. Hands down....And Chris would have to play Doc. Has to be. But Mike can still act his age. Maybe him and his kid need to travel time...or something....I don't want a "remake' of back to the future 1 with different characters...I want a fourth installment that takes place after BTTF 3. So pull together the same cast/crew and they all reprise their former rolls, and put together a solid script. Make us all happy. (Reply to this) |
