Trailer Bulletin: Ultraviolet
by Scott Weinberg | January 16, 2006
Discuss Article
UGO.com has the very first trailer up for the new action flick from director Kurt ("Equilibrium") Wimmer. It features the always-sexy Milla Jovovich kicking some serious butt ... and it's not zombies she's beatin' on this time!

"Set in the late 21st century, a subculture of humans have emerged who have been modified genetically by a vampire-like disease (Hemophagia), giving them enhanced speed, incredible stamina and acute intelligence, and as they are set apart from "normal" and "healthy" humans, the world is pushed to the brink of worldwide civil war (a war between humans and hemophages) aimed at the destruction of the "diseased" population. In the middle of this crossed-fire is - an infected woman - Ultraviolet (Jovovich), who finds herself protecting a nine-year-old boy who has been marked for death by the human government as he is believed to be a threat to humans."

--

Co-starring William Fichtner, Cameron Bright, and Nick Chinlund, the irritatingly PG-13-rated "Ultraviolet" whacks into theaters on February 24th.

So the flick looks like "Kill Bill," "Resident Evil," "Underworld," and "Aeon Flux" fell into a blender. I still think it looks pretty cool.

looks like another mindless, scifi, action flick with a leather clad female protagonist hell bent on saving the world, all done for the sole purpose of raking in the big summer box office bucks.... I AM SO THERE!

God I hope they keep the action choreographer from Equilibrium.

Sweet!

It looks like this movie is going to make right all of the things that Aeon Flux made wrong.

This scares me.

Just watched it. Most stylish trailer I've seen since Sin City. But just mindless action sequences.

So I'm still scared.

whats with it though? Something about those scenes, they looked so... fake? Or is it just a style?

Stupid popcorn fun with MILLA!!
The trailer looks like a cross between 'The Matrix' and the 'Resident Evil' Films. The last two I liked because of the cheesiness and of course MILLA! This looks just as cheesy with cool efects and a tired techno soundtrack.

I'll probably wait until DVD.

Cheers,
Kevin

I kind of agree with you acctually, after viewing the trailer a few times over it looked extremely stylish and COLORFULL!!!! Her one liners are ages better than Aeon FLux's and she looks way hotter doing kung fu than in those hideous pictures. She kinda has an attitude, and the dialouge is suprisingly snappy. Truthfully Im kinda exited. Hopefully it is a origenal screenplay so nothing from any "book" hasto be brought up needlessly just to impress the fanboys.

Okay, if it's by the guys who made Equilibrium, I'm SO there already. Not to mention the trailer completely sold me. I love how the director seems to be taking a different route with the colors. In Equilibrium, where everyone had their emotions supressed, the costumes and sets were all very monchromatic. Now things are really colorful. I can't wait to see where this goes.
