David Duchovny Set to "Hulk" Up?
by Scott Weinberg | January 18, 2006
Discuss Article
According to the IMDb newsfeed, former X-Filer star David Duchovny is pretty close to signing a deal that would put him in the role of Bruce Banner ... the guy who turns giant and green whenever he gets angry.

"Former X-Files star David Duchovny is set to become the new Incredible Hulk after Aussie actor Eric Bana pulled out of the sequel project. Peter Cuneo, the vice chairman of comic book franchise Marvel, revealed Duchovny is the frontrunner to play the green giant in The Incredible Hulk 2 in a recent interview with AOL's Motley Fool Radio Team. He said, "Duchovny's name has been bought up several times. He's quite the fan too." Bana pulled out of the sequel when he discovered the plan was to release the film direct to DVD. Cuneo insists there's still life in the Hulk project: "Hulk did $250 million worldwide box office, which is a huge box office, and as you may recall, we had tremendous success with our toy line, which was a complete sell-out, over $100 million worldwide.""

--

Direct to video? Hm. Let's hope Universal lays some groundwork by producing a GOOD DTV movie, thereby indicating to the other studios that junk like "American Pie: Band Camp" and "Single White Female 2: The Psycho" is only good for a quick buck and a lot of sneers.

I hope Duchovny is not losing his mind! It's not wise to take the sequel role!

Just what we need, David Duchovny getting angry. What's he going to do; slap someone's face?

Duchovny should be slapped in the face. Direct to DVD is pretty much like diving into a tar pit. He probably will be destroyed. Boy the first sucked bigtime, but this is gonna suck^2

wait: i don't understand.
crap movie sequels can be made and released in theaters (duece bigalo 2??? and two 'i know what you did…') but this cannot get a legitimate release?! it's gonna have a different director and star, who cares?
more people will see this than the new underworld sequel. family friendly always makes $$$.

Duchovny did "Return to Me" (about his dead wife donating her heart to another woman) and "House of D"...

what's it going to hurt for him to play Bruce Banner?

They need to sign Tea Leone as Banner's love interest.

Mulder?
I'd be suprised if David Duchovny does this movie, he seems to be moving up in the movie business. He wrote and directed a movie starring him and Robin Williams. Playing Hulk would be a step backwards. I think he's a good actor and could play the part, but I'd be like trading in your new BMW for an 86 Chevy hatchback.

This reminds me of the original 4 Batman movies that grew increasingly worse with each sequel. And everyone pulled out after the first two, Tim Burton left, Michael Keaton left, even Danny Elfman left. And for the final movie, in steps Val Kilmer who took the role like a desperate man lonely on a Saturday night.

Lets not forget Clooney who killed the franchise for many years until they scrapped it all and started over.

Rottentomatoes needs to take the story down, its been confirmed that this is not a true fact.
Indeed Marvel IS making a sequel, but it is going to be theatrical and there are no recasts.

Hold on, the reasons the batman series plummeted is that the writing was really bad. I am recalling all of the lame 1-liners in that movie and I just throw up in mouth a little bit.

i've got this picture of hulk fighting a t-rex (which has a monkey on it's head) and i always picture eric bana delivering badly written lines when i look at it. now i'm supposed to picture duchovny? fuck that, duchovny sucks. eric bana rules.

they should fight or something.

hehe speaking of aintitcool.com, i think the site's been hacked. when I try to click on a link, all that appears is "The portal to the Phantom Zone has closed. There is nothing to see here. - Bizarro Doc". Is it just me or is sumthing weird going on? But ya, as one of the few people who found the first hulk decent, I'll be cautiously anticipating this sequal, be it theatrical or direct to video.
