Trailer Bulletin: London
OK, so it's just a little "limited release" flick that none of us will most likely see before its DVD release, but "London" earns a Trailer Bulletin for two reasons: A) The Variety film critic called it "noxious" (an adjective that always piques my curiosity), and B) It stars Jessica Biel, Chris Evans, Joy Bryant, Isla Fisher, Dane Cook, and Jason Statham. (Yes, I said Jessica Biel.) Trailer thisaway.
Plot: "When Syd learns that his ex-girlfriend is leaving New York without telling him, he responds by crashing her going away party. Once there though, rather than confront her, he holes up in the bathroom with a pile of cocaine and Bateman, an Englishman he barely knows. As the two engage in a drug-fueled conversation, Syd struggles to work up the nerve to talk to London before it is too late."
Variety venom: "For those who enjoy fashion-model-looking twentysomethings yelling at each other in bathrooms while doing too much cocaine, voila! Heaven is a place called "London." Everyone else will want to maintain a wide berth around this noxious debut feature for writer-director Hunter Richards, whose apparent views on the battle of the sexes suggest anger-management counseling is needed. Given recent rises in the career fortunes of leads Chris Evans, Jason Statham and Jessica Biel, one suspects this decidedly minor project has been sitting on the shelf, waiting for a hook. Next stop, rental limbo."

"London" opens this Friday, but only in New York, Chicago, and various parts of California.

on Feb 08 2006 08:35 AM As beautiful as Variety makes it sound, it still looks and has a good enough cast that I will see it if it expandes to my town. (Reply to this) |
