Trailer Bulletin: An American Haunting

There's a creepy-looking new fact-based horror story on the way; it's called "An American Haunting," and it stars Donald Sutherland, Sissy Spacek, and Rachel Hurd-Wood. Check out two different trailers: one right here at Rotten Tomatoes, and a slightly newer one over at Apple Quicktime.

"Based on true events that took place in Tennessee during the 1800s, An American Haunting tells the story of the only documented case in U.S. history (validated by the State of Tennessee) in which a spirit caused a person's death. With over 20 books written on the subject, and a town that still lives in fear of the spirit's return, the story of "An American Haunting" is terrifying. Between the years 1818-1820, the Bell Family of Red River, Tennessee was visited by an unknown presence that haunted the family and eventually caused the death of one of its members."

Directed by Courtney Solomon ("Dungeons & Dragons"), "An American Haunting" hits theaters on May 5th.

It doesn't look too bad, actually. There hasn't been a good haunted house movie in a while. Let's face it, the remake of Amityville Horror kinda sucked. I'm not expecting Potergeist, but as long as they get some good scares in there without resorting to the cliched black cat jumping on screen I'll be looking forward to it. The Bell Witch looks more interesting than that second Blair Witch film ever was. Fingers are crossed that they get it right.

I saw this trailer before 'V For Vendetta' (very good, BTW) and it just looked like crap. They showed the 'Silent Hill' trailer as well and it looked just as crappy. Bad horror movies so far this year.
