Valderrama Talks Up "CHIPS" Flick
by Scott Weinberg | April 17, 2006
Discuss Article
The L.A. Daily News shared a few words with comedic actor Wilmer Valderrama regarding his upcoming big-screen adaptation of CHiPS. Wilmer, best known as "Fez" on That 70's Show, will be playing the role of California Highay Patrolman "Ponch" Poncherello, a character made famous (once upon a time) by Erik Estrada.

Says the Daily News: " As for who will play his police partner, Jon? "There are a couple of exciting names being tossed around, but I can't reveal anything yet," he responds. "It's so funny because everybody wants to be in this movie. Like the most awesome, fantastic A-listers are jumping on board and are trying to get this movie going."

Despite Hollywood's excitement, many fans have expressed concern that the movie will make fun of their beloved vintage show about the California Highway Patrol, but Valderrama assures that it won't.

"What we're doing is, we're having fun with it, but we're not making fun of 'CHiPs.' A lot of the remakes that have happened in the last couple of years have failed because they make fun of their franchise. You can't be making fun of something that at some point people cared so much about..."

My prayers have been answered. Another remake that no one wants!

There surely MUST be a God!

I wonder what A-Listers he's talking about or who he considers an A-Lister. I find it hard to believe that any of them want anything to do with this.

Wilmer is his generation's Scott Baio. While their careers may be a joke, their personal lives aren't.

Perhaps if he had a few hit pop songs he could be this generations Shaun Cassidy?
