Knight Rider: The Movie -- Shocker, right?
Glen Larson, creator of the original "Knight Rider" series, will write and produce the big-screen adaptation for Bob & Harvey Weinstein. And that's it; there are officially no more TV shows left to make movies of. Oh wait, there's that Gilligan one...
From The Hollywood Reporter: "The talking car K.I.T.T. is heading to the big screen in the Weinstein Co.'s adaptation of Glen A. Larson's hit 1980s TV series "Knight Rider." Larson will write and exec produce the feature, which he anticipates will begin production next year. The project was brought to the attention of Weinstein Co. co-head Harvey Weinstein by a mutual friend, director David Price, son of Larson's mentor Frank Price, who headed Universal TV in the 1970s. The project had previously been in development at Revolution Studios. Larson has bandied about the project for years. "A number of people wanted to do a pure comedic send-up of it, but I always felt that would throw away the franchise," he said. "There was always some humor on the show, but this film will probably have more gallows, foxhole humor."

SpikesInMySkull writes: on May 09 2006 05:08 AM They tried to modernize Knight Rider already back in the 90s... it was awful. And no, I don't feel better than Larson is involved, because his stuff is total crap, but since we grew up on, we like it anyway... Oh well, it's not like I bothered to watch any of the other TV show-to-movies piles of crap they've churned out (Reply to this) |

Aoiboy writes: on May 09 2006 05:18 AM I'm sure if this has any sort of success, next in the list is the A-Team... :-( Now, the A-Team is something I picture more on the comedic side than Knight Rader, but anyway, why not trying to write an original screenplay once in a while ? (Reply to this) |

Zehdd writes: on May 09 2006 06:43 AM IMHO, Knight Rider 2000 was an interesting adaptation of the series, bringing back all the original stars for a send-off movie. Unfortunately, they killed off Devon, so now they'll need a new head for The Foundation. That gives opportunity for new methods, grinding of gears between the old and the new, etc. I just hope they bring back Mr.Feeney as K.I.T.T. because the guy that voiced the Knight2000 sounded like a retard. sokiveta.com writes: on May 09 2006 09:06 AM Knight Boat -- the crime solving boat. "Kitt, they're getting away." "Wait Michael. There's a canal." ~simpsons In another interview, Europes favorite singer -- David Hasselhoff, has said that the movie version of Night Rider wouldn't be a comedy like Stasky & Hutch, or Dukes of Hazzard. He hated that they made those movies that way and said his movie will stay true to the TV series. But who here is impressed by a talking car? Most new cars today have more computing power than Kitt did, and 25 years later the notion of a talking car is about as original the notion of a war in the stars, cops solving crime, and people stranded on an island. I think an A-Team movie has a much better chance. Instead of a small platoon that went AWOL during Viet Nam, they could base it in modern-day, and the story could be about a special-forces unit that uncovered a horrible secret. Then, they are forced to go into hiding after a crazy U.S. general, who is in charge of the horrible secret, tries to have them killed. While hiding, they stumble upon a village under great suppression by the local Taliban who forces them to work in the poppy fields and make heroin. (Reply to this) |

aconline writes: on May 12 2006 08:12 AM In reply to this comment (#835446) Dumbass. That has been on IMDB for years. It was last updated in June 2005. There have been rumors floating around about the A-Team movie for at least five years. There is always casting problems, script problems. As for Airwolf, not likely. The first season on DvD didn't sell enough to warrant releasing the second season yet, it is not likely to be made into a movie. Dukes of Hazzard was a comedy/action just like the show. The movie was just a gigantic perverted joke, not like the show. Starsky and Hutch, who watched the show? I liked the movie. (Reply to this) |
