Ratner Names His "Rush Hour 3" Dream Cast - Yao Ming, Gong Li and Tony Jaa!
by Scott Weinberg | May 15, 2006
Blog Article | Discuss Article
ComingSoon.net recently had a brief chit-chat with filmmaker Brett Ratner, and this time the focus of the conversation was NOT on the upcoming "X-Men: The Last Stand," but Ratner's next flick, "Rush Hour 3," which begins production on August 16th.

The specific topic of discussion was Mr. Ratner's ultra-wish-list dream cast for "Rush Hour 3," and it would certainly make for one international action comedy!

"Obviously, Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan are back, but Ratner talked with ComingSoon.net about some of the actors he'd love to bring in for the third installment. "I'll tell you who I'm going after," he said with a burst of excitement. "I want Yao Ming, the basketball player, to be in it. I want to recreate the fight sequence from the Bruce Lee movie where he fights Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, but I want to do the reverse; I want Chris Tucker to fight Yao Ming. I want that to happen. I want Aishwarya Rai [the biggest female star in Bollywood] and I would love Gong Li [last seen in Memoirs of a Geisha] to be in the movie. There's some people that I want, but I don't know if I'll be able to get them. Tony Jaa [star of last year's Ong Bak: Thai Warrior] I want, too. I love him.""

Tony Jaa!
That would be inspired casting indeed! I can't wait to see Tony Jaa and Jackie Chan in the same movie.

Tony Jaa!!!
That would be awsome. I hope Tony Jaa agrees to join in, and further more, I hope the movie is good.

Aishwarya Rai would be cool to see (nothing beats having "the most beautiful woman in the world" in your movie), but I could see her turning it down because it doesn't really fit her genre.

So how does Ratner intend on implementing this entire cast. Will he make them all from China? Or will he have them residing from their respective countries? I think Ratner sits around and wishes every fan boys fantasy without thinking how I can logically pull this off. This is my worries for the new XMen...I'm almost worried this could be Mortal Kombat Annihilation all over again...just one big screensaver of a movie.

sounds good think about it Tony Jaa as the bad guy, the climax would be huge, it would be Jackie taking on Jaa!!! OMG I'm going nuts for this! And then you'd have Chris fighting off a giant in Yao! wow this would work!!!

I think you guys are forgetting one monumental reason why that idea would suck: It's fucking Brett Ratner!!!! I'm not going to bash him like every other fanboy seems to be doing these days, but i'm going to plainly say that i havent seen any of his film that have been more then mediocre. If tony jaa and jackie chan had a showdown in any movie, I wouldn't want Ratner anywhere near it. That scene would have to be one of the holy grails of fight sequences and I dont see Ratner producing anything that great. As for Chris tucker and Yao Ming, i wouldnt care that much. Neither of them can fight, so who gives a crap? Oh, and last but not least, this message is regarding Aishwayria Rai:

FIRE YOUR AGENT! Dont take on mindless garbage. I know i know, she'll probably never read this but it needs to be said. Sure she's gorgeaous, but you watch a movie like "Raincoat" or even the more popular "Devdas" and it's painful to see her throwing her career away on garbage like "Bride and Prejudice." Sure, everyone knows she's really hot, but she needs to up her A game and take on some dramatic roles and show people that she's as good or a better actress then Halle and Anjelina.

Chris Tucker should play Yao at some basketball and shake him to the ground like Stephon Marbury did. Recreate that and it'll be the comedy of the year.
