Sandler to Star in 9/11 Drama
Big-screen comedian Adam Sandler is going to get a little more serious for his next role. He'll be starring in Mike Binder's 9/11 drama "Empty City," along with Don Cheadle, Jada Pinkett-Smith, and Liv Tyler.
From ComingSoon.net: ""Don't know how to describe the movie, how to sum it up... I can't wait for Mike Binder, the man who wrote it, and hear him discuss it, because I don't know how to phrase this. But it's just about a man who's been through a terrible thing -- he lost his family in 9/11 -- and he has a hard time just living life and just being in the moment," Sandler told ComingSoon.net.
"He doesn't want to know about life. He tries to pretend he never had a family. He can only deal with life by thinking about stuff from his past and growing up and he bumps into... Cheadle plays, we went to dental school together, and my character hasn't spoken to anybody in five years and Cheadle makes him feel comfortable. So it's about friendship, I guess. I'm sorry. I just don't know how to say."

Mike Binder's previous films include "The Upside of Anger," "Blankman," and "Indian Summer."

Scarborough Fair writes: on Jun 08 2006 10:35 AM oh come on. sandler is really good in dramatic turns (think punch drunk love). he played the perfect manic depressive in that movie and this could be really good. i dont want to see any 9/11 movies, but this could be good, its not really about 9/11, but about someone trying to cope. I liked sandler in punch drunk love, and i liked him in spanglish too, and meanwhile i can't stand pretty much every other movie he's been in. just making an observation is all.... (Reply to this) |
