Fansite: Spielberg Will Not Direct "World of Warcraft"
by RT Staff | June 22, 2006
Discuss Article
It appears that Steven Spielberg will not have another movie with the words "war" and "world" in his filmography. A number of sources (including Rotten Tomatoes) reported earlier this week that Spielberg was attached to direct the film adaptation of the popular role playing game "World of Warcraft," something that the good folks at the fansite Spielbergfilms.com say is utterly incorrect.

"Steven Spielberg's offices have told us in no uncertain terms that Mr. Spielberg will not be directing 'World of Warcraft,' according to the site. "The project is in development, but not with Mr. Spielberg attached." The site also noted Spielberg has no plans to direct "The Da Vinci Code" prequel "Angels and Demons." However, he is planning to work on "Indiana Jones 4," an Abraham Lincoln biopic, and a Kip Torne-inspired sci-fi project. Click here for the Spielbergfilms.com list of other potential Spielberg concepts.

still hope .....
Perhaps his Amblin production company will produce the picture? A very distant consolation, I agree. But Amblin is more of a kids-friendly production house, is it not? And a WoW movie would be anything but kid-friendly (hopefully). But maybe I'm just talking out of my bung-hole ....

Agreed. WoW is a waste of time. I'm certain the movie would follow suit.

Thank God that we can now hope for Uwe Boll to take charge of this future masterpiece. My grandchildren are going to ask me what it was like to see such a classic film in a theater.

WoW doesn't deserve a big screen treatment in the first place.....but the money is there.

I'm not a fan of WoW so I'm pretty unaffected by this news.

I still can't wait for that sci-project of his. Hopefully it'll be released the same year as the one Jimmy Cameron is working on. But I guess that's a bit of a stretch.
