Return of the "Heathers"?
by Scott Weinberg | July 11, 2006
Discuss Article
One of the 1980s' true cult classics is Daniel Waters' "Heathers," and now comes word that the screenwriter and his leading lady, Winona Ryder, might be interested in suiting up for another dish of brazen black comedy.

From EW and JoBlo's: "According to the "Deal Report" in the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly, Winona Ryder and writer/director Daniel Waters are cooking up a sequel to HEATHERS, that dark gem released during the otherwise neon year of 1989. Says Winona, "There's Heathers in the real world! We have to keep going!"

That's all the news we have so far. Waters and Ryder recently reunited to create "Sex and Death 101," which will hit theaters early next year.

So yeah, a "Heathers" sequel. Thoughts from the Comment Brigade?

Wouldn't be surprised if Christian Slater can back. God I hope this movie does not happen.

Movie on a stick
Will they greenlight Anything? Heather's was great fun in High School, and I'm still in the Big Fun fan club. Where in world will they go with this idea... Mean Heathers Girls 2.0 starring Lindsy Lohans' unborn baby from The Fly 2? Will it prominently feature Ana Van Der Pol from "That's So Raven"?
I hope.

Ha! Kevin Smith reference. Nice. I agree whole heartedly. By the way, has anyone ever seen the 1981 film 'Massacre at Central High'? 'Heathers' bit that movie to the fullest. Even so far as to have pretty much the same ending. A guy, strapped with explosives, standing in front of a high school. I love 'Heathers' ,but damn.
