Comic-Con 2006: Ben Stiller - Ghostbuster?
If there's one high-budget comedy sequel that the movie fans have pretty much given up on, it's gotta be "Ghostbusters 3." But as long as there are discussion panels out there, the questions will never die. Ernie Hudson was on such a panel recently, and (of course) someone asked the guy about a "Ghostbusters" sequel...
From IGN FilmForce, the website that works on weekends: "At the "Snoop Dogg Hood of Horror" panel, Ghostbuster Ernie Hudson added fuel to the rumor fire, when he responded to the "will there be a sequel?" question. Hudson said: "I've been hearing about "Ghostbusters 3" for 20 years Harold (Ramis) would love to [do it] and Dan (Aykroyd) would Bill (Murray) is the hold-out."

From a while back: "Harold Ramis, the co-star of the first two Ghostbuster movies, indicated recently the sequel was further along than ever, hinting that he would like to cast Ben Stiller as one of the Ghostbusters."
Yikes. Let it go, fellas -- although I find it kind of weird that Bill Murray would do "Garfield 2" and not "Ghostbusters 3."

on Jul 24 2006 04:07 AM Id love to see a new ghostbusters movie, what with all the horrid remakes thats came out over the past few years why not?Hell rockys making a comeback,so why not the ghostbusters. (Reply to this) |
![]() on Jul 24 2006 04:27 AM I agree with the Garfield quote. I love Bill Murray and have really enjoyed his Wes Anderson flicks alongside Lost in Translation, but come on man, Ghostbusters 3 has got to be better than another voice-over for Garfield. Regardless I'd love to see Stiller in the mix, I can see him with the Proto Pack in my mind already. Hell throw Owen Wilson in there and create a new crew, as long as they have a fun story that reminds you of the original film's magic then I can deal with some new blood. Damn throw Dave Chappelle in there, we know he's not doing a damn thing right now and I would love to see him in a film like this. It's not like Ghostbusters is played out, they made two films and dropped it. I know they had the cartoons and all, but an animated series is a different creature all together and seldom enough to make me think the franchise is burned out. I say bring back Ghostbusters! on Jul 24 2006 05:06 AM At this point I think I'd rather just see a new cast take up the fight. Screw Bill, if he can't take the time to be in the movie that made him a star to me but can find time to star in a movie that made him look like a retard then this movie doesn't need him. And I like that idea of Ben Stiller and Dave Chappelle, if they can keep him off the weed and crack jokes he'd be perfect for this movie. (Reply to this) |

on Jul 24 2006 05:26 AM I think the last thing this world needs is a Ghostbusters sequel with Stiller and Wilson. If you aren't going to do it right, just let a dead horse lie - don't start kicking it. (Reply to this) |
![]() on Jul 24 2006 08:58 AM i agree with the garfield quote also.what did the garfield sequel make like $100. (Reply to this) |

on Jul 24 2006 04:25 PM Hmmmmmm...Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, Dave Chapelle...how about Mike Myers or Will Ferell as the fouth member? Talk about a comic gold mine, and mixed with modern day special effects, this could be a monster smash if they ever got it off the ground. Now they just need Parker Posey to take over the Annie Potts role of secretary. (Reply to this) |

on Jul 24 2006 04:49 PM Im sorry, but I would rather watch Garfield 3 than see Ben Stiller in...well anything. Unfortunatly he is not the comedic genius that everyone makes him out to be and I would hate to see a Ghostbusters ruined with his lame-ass neurotic eye-rolling. Owen Wilson is funny, but not genuine enough to be a Ghostbuster. Maybe Chappelle, but please no Stiller. As for the whole Bill Murray thing, let it go. Almost everything he has done in the last 5 years has been nothing but HARDCORE indie-favs. He could make a Scooby-Doo meets Garfield movie and still have more cred than Ben Stiller. As for who should be in a Ghostbusters movie... I dunno? Lewis Black, Paul Giamatti, Dave Chappelle, and Dave Attel. Fuck yeah. (Reply to this) |

on Jul 24 2006 06:22 PM no way give me Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, Vince Vaughn, and Eddie Griffith and Steve Carell as kind of the Rick moranis/or bad guy! Now you have an all star cast! They movie would so work because of the advanced CGI tech, this would be huge like Pirates II huge! haha (Reply to this) |
![]() on Jul 24 2006 06:27 PM As long as Rick Moranis reprises his role, I'm there. (Reply to this) |

on Jul 24 2006 10:27 PM I kinda gave up on a ghostbusters 3, but if the movie ever develops i think an allstar ghostbusters would b suntin to see. I laughed at imaginin Dave chapelle, Ben Stiller, Steve Carell, and Owen Wilson or Jack Black dressed in the suits. Moranis, akroyd, Ramis, and Hudson back too. (Reply to this) |

on Jul 25 2006 12:44 AM Stiller sucks What is wrong with you deadbeats? Can't laugh at anything if the same old assholes aren't in it? Putting Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson in a new Ghostbusters movie these days is a complete cop out and just plain IRRITATING! Aren't you retards capable of enjoying an established comedy without those lameasses in it? The movie would be fine with the same old team, and if they need to introduce a new ghostbuster, it shouldn't be someone with so much baggage as those other jerks. It would make for an awful mugging from Ben Still that did not exist in the first two movies. Use you brain and see why that just wouldn't fit. And if you think Harold Ramis thinks it's a good idea, take into consideration the fact that the easy way to a successful film is to get a current big name actor than to make a good script these days. I just hope they don't try to make it if they can't get Bill Murray on board. He should be shot for doing one, let alone two Garfield movies, so returning to Ghostbusters would be some redemption. on Jul 25 2006 11:56 PM How many times has Ben Stiller reprised his role for "There's Something About Mary" sequels? That's right, you can't #$%$#@ count! Even though it would be quite a feat (and in some strange way original) writers can't possibly be so hard up for ideas that they need to resort to making 2 sequels in 1 movie. Can they? on Jul 26 2006 11:11 AM In reply to this comment (#840891) I'm a scientist, bitch! Your cast screams "New York" more than anyone else's. If Sony signs them up, consider my online ticket bought! (Reply to this) |

on Jul 29 2006 09:22 PM In reply to this comment (#840895) I kind of like Ben Stiller Yes his roles are often similar, but if you take a look at many of history's best comedians, you'll find many of them maintained a certain style throughout most of their career that worked for them. He's like a guy-next-door schmuck who gets kicked in the nuts a lot. But to each his own right. If you want to bitch at others because they enjoy watching actors that you don't, feel free. Just know that you're pathetic in your own special way for making such lame (and rude) comments about things that you obviously don't understand. If you can't articulate your thoughts properly, then maybe you should take a time out. "Rage on little rager" - Kevin Smith (Reply to this) |
![]() on Jul 31 2006 12:19 AM I recently watched Ghostbusters again and I can't believe how well it holds up. It's still better than over half the Summer movies out this year. I'd watch Part 3 as long as they keep the same sense of fun and wonder. It could find a new audience. Don't screw it up! (Reply to this) |
