Kevin Smith Responds to Comments Calling "Clerks 2" a FlopKevin Smith, who is known for pulling no punches with readers on message boards, visited Rotten Tomatoes' own forums to respond to criticism made by a poster that his latest movie "Clerks II" is a commercial flop.
Posting under the handle "ThatKevinSmith," he wrote, after a few digs at the original poster, that even though he would have liked the movie to have had a better opening, he is reasonably "happy" with the opening weekend tally ($10.1M).
Catching up with Randal and Dante in their thirties.
He elaborated that with a production budget of around $5M, the $10M opening nearly doubled what they've spent to make the movie, which is his "fave of the bunch."
"Clerks II" is the sequel to Smith's first film, released in 1994, and centers around two best friends Dante Hicks (Brian O'Halloran) and Randal Graves (Jeff Anderson) as they go about their lives in their thirties.

He previously visited the RT forum, under the handle "KevinSmith," in May 2005 when he exchanged barbs with readers in response to his "Star Wars Ep III" review. That exchange can be found about 3/4 of the way down on the forth page of this thread.
