Get Ready for Another Dose of "National Treasure"
Everyone called "National Treasure" a "Da Vinci Code wannabe" when it came out a few years ago, what with its hidden clues and historical trappings, but now that "The Da Vinci Code" has shown up and disappointed a whole lot of people, "National Treasure" doesn't look so silly anymore. So un-silly, in fact, that production's about to get underway on "National Treasure 2."
From the L.A. Daily News: "The sequel to Disney's 2004 Nicolas Cage hit, 'National Treasure,' will be before the cameras the first of the year, reports Jon Turteltaub, who directed and co-produced the film with Jerry Bruckheimer... He says the sequel will take our intrepid adventurers to 'exciting destinations within America as well as around the world. As we were shooting the first one, it kept changing, so I'm scared to commit to anything, but I wouldn't be surprised if Mount Rushmore made an appearance.'"

Released in late 2004, "National Treasure" starred Nicolas Cage, Sean Bean, Harvey Keitel, and Jon Voight. It grossed over $170 million in domestic box office alone, and I must admit that it gets a little better with repeat viewings.

nemesis530 writes: on Aug 06 2006 06:11 AM I loved the first one, and I still really like The Da Vinci Code movie, and I personally thought it was very faithful to the book, which I also enjoyed. However, given a choice between the two, National Treasure would win...and I am a big Nicholas Cage fan, too. NT2 is on my "highly looking forward to" list. (Reply to this) |

sweet phil writes: on Aug 06 2006 11:27 PM In reply to this comment (#841472) even though the presmise was kinda cool in the first one, it was so ridden with cinematic cliches, that my friends and I were practically predicting most lines before they said them. so if they made a new one, i really hope that they would try to put alot of fresh ideas into the franchise. Jerry Bruckheimer seems to be a smart guy so hopefully he will try to get the movie to really be intriguing to get a mass audience (Reply to this) |
