Check Out the New "Eragon" Poster
by Scott Weinberg | August 23, 2006
Blog Article | Discuss Article
One of this winter's biggies that I'm most looking forward to is "Eragon," mainly because I've always been a sucker for the Epic Adventure genre ... but also because I just started reading the book. Reading and enjoying.

IGN FilmForce has a peek at the flick's all-new one-sheet. Check it here.

Bare bones synopsis: "A boy named Eragon finds a polished blue stone in the forest. At first, he thinks it's a lucky discovery, something that will bring meat to his poor family for the winter. Instead, it brings a dragon hatchling, and Eragon is soon thrust into a world of magic and power through which he and the dragon must navigate."

Opening on December 15th, "Eragon" marks the directorial debut of Stefen Fangmeier. Joining newcomer Edward Speleers will be John Malkovich, Djimon Hounsou, Jeremy Irons, Robert Carlyle, and Sienna Guillory.

That's one ugly poster!

But with a cast that good the film will either be dreadful . . . or great. Of course I might still be having leftover nightmares from the Dungeons and Dragons movie.

I'm hoping this movie will be as fun as the book was. While it was really cliched and was practically Star Wars with dragons, it had enough charm and cleverness to it that it was a good read.

And if this one isn't too good, we can count on the Eldest movie to be better. How many books feature dragons getting drunk off dwarven ale and passing out? Only one.

"...was really cliched and was practically Star Wars with dragons..."

Careful. Star Wars is essentially a cliched fantasy story with space ships. ;-)

Seeing the poster and especially Jeremy Irons in the poster immediately makes me think "Dungeons & Dragons".
Let's hope not.

yeah, not a great poster -just the cast holding swords --but you cant judge a movie by its cover -id wait for a preview

Decent Poster
I like the sword that Eragon is holding. Never read any of the books but I love these types of movies. Hurry up and release the trailer.

I've read the books, and it is great that John Malkovich was cast as Galbatorix, the only problem is you hear about him alot in the books, but you are yet to see him.

Dragonslayer. It's bubbling in a bit of 80's cheese in terms of styles and effects, but a great, fun movie.

Some newspaper should hire George Foreman for a week as their film critic, then let him pulverize Uwe.
