Jean Grey to Star Alongside "Iron Man"?
by Scott Weinberg | October 02, 2006

IGN FilmForce shares with us an unsubstantiated piece of "Iron Man" casting gossip, and it's just juicy enough to bear repeating. Word is that the mega-sexy Famke Janssen might be co-starring alongside Robert Downey Jr. in the Marvel Comics adaptation. (Also, Terrence Howard is being mentioned, too!)

From IGNFF: "Is Tony Stark falling for Jean Grey? There's a new rumor -- albeit a fairly shaky one -- that "X-Men" actress Famke Janssen has been cast as Tony Stark's love interest in the forthcoming "Iron Man" movie that will star Robert Downey, Jr. in the title role.

According to a couple of random emails sent to the Canmag.com website (we said it was shaky), Janssen was recently cast by "Iron Man" director Jon Favreau, with whom she has worked several times before."

Plus, I was away on Friday when the news was announced, but the Robert Downey choice? I think it's an excellent pick!

Meh, I'd rather see her reprise the role of Jean. I like the idea of shared continuity, just like in the comics.

Rebecca Romijn does the X-Men films and The Punisher, Halle Berry does the X-Men films and that Catwoman abomination, Parker Posey does Blade Trinity and Superman Returns, Kirsten Dunst did The Crow: Salvation and the Spider-Man films, and now this. man, these chicks love the superhero movies.

She's not actually going to be Jean Grey in this movie, it's just the same actress.

I thought Howard had already been cast. Whatever. I hope she does get the role, I like Famke Janssen, it would make this movie even sweeter sounding.

Great cast. I can't believe I'm looking forward to this movie, after all the recent disappointments. Maybe I should seek counseling.

They need to stop making these for awhile. Getting tired of them.

It's not that they're making too many of them, it's that they're making too many bad ones. Anything to make a buck, I guess...
