Disney knows that the success of The Pirates movies is due mainly to the charisma of Depp, Bloom, and Knightly. I don't think the Disney stockholders will allow any studio executive to tamper with the cast and risk killing their proven cash cow.

oh boo hoo. all the fantasy world women who fell in love with will "tina" turner will just have to settle for depp who was quoted to have said he could make the pirate movies the rest of his career. bloom is not that great an actor. that's why he is always typecast in these period piece adventures.

It just would cast a huge shadow over the series. The second one has already take a lot of flack for simply being made to draw people in and make money (although, if that isn't the purpose of every blockbuster, I don't know what is) Even though I am not a huge fan of Orlando, killing any main character off like that, especially for the reasons mentioned, would make it extremely difficult for me to watch future installments.

In defense of Bloom (who i admit is no great actor) he was the saving grace of Elizabethtown - and i agree when people say its not his fault but the way he is typecast.
Give him a role where he is a mean SOB and then we can judge his acting abilities.

I agree with medicineman regarding the charisma; especially in Orlando Bloom's case. Any teenage girl who has seen the pirates movies will tell you that.

Remember that this is a Disney movie based on a Disney ride so the pirates movies are aimed at kids and those who remember what it was like to be a kid; just like Star Wars, Indiana Jones etc.

Uh, you do know the character is getting killed off, not the human being. Or are you one of those people (kids?) that doesn't realize actors aren't actually like the people they play on screens? If you're offended that women like him, shouldn't you be trying to get over your own insecurities rather than blaming someone else?

Regardless of his Keanu Reeves style of acting, I'm willing to be he's a better actor than 100% of the people posting here. Oh, and stop seeing his damn movies if you don't like him. Jeez, people, use some common sense.

although I (and many others) want this to end after the third installment, i doubt after having the second one make a freakin billion dollars that the studio will put an end to it. They will draw out every last possible penny, and if the third does decent (and we all know it will) they will keep them coming till people get sick of Pirates....(the same goes with the Spiderman series)...movies should not be a television series!

I like how people say that Orlando Bloom is essential to these movies, the 2 main things that have drawn people to the these movies are Johnny Depp and the Pirates.

Bloom and Knightly were just flat out annoying in the 2nd film. So if either were killed off I don't think too many people would be upset. If it wasn't for movies like Pirates and Lord of the rings, Olrando Bloom wouldn't even have a career, he has proven he can't carry a movie on his own (ElizabethTown, Kingdom of Heaven)

Besides Bend it like Beckam and the Pirates films Knightly can't carry a movie on her own and it be successful.

(To the post I am responding too, the "will tina turner" statement is classic. lol)
