Naomi Watts to Star in Bay's Version of Hitchcock's "Birds"?

clearly we did not learn anything from remaking psycho or rear window (though i thought window was ok w/ chris reeves) . of course this is a bad idea, but i can actually see watts as the heroine of the bird. michael bay and the people at platinum dunes should be shot in the twat. hopefully the remake trend is just a fad and we might get some better ideas out there

Jerry Bruckheimer and Uwe Boll can never be put in the same breath. Bruckheimer is a pop genius if you ask me. He knows exactly how to deliver the action in movies, and he does just that. The Rock, Top Gun, Crimson Tide (excellent movie by the way), Bad Boys I and II, Enemy of the State, Con Air, POTC and the sequels, Armageddon, Days of Thunder, National Treasure, Black Hawk Down, Beverly Hills Cop I and II, and one of the best holiday comedies of all time...The Ref. Sorry for ranting on there, but he is no crack film maker and knows just how to deliver. He's pretty much taken over television, too, with CSI and it's one million other spin-offs. No way you can put him in the same sentence as Uwe Boll.

i think people just want to throw uwe boll's name in with anyone, just so they can attempt to make a crummy comparison as if it helps =P uwe boll is just a scape goat for bad films. michael bay is just bad. though i agree jerry bruckheimer is a great producer.

Well, technically I didn't put his name in the same sentence. Jerry Bruckheimer eats pieces of Uwe Boll for breakfast.

When I first heard Birds remake, I thought, ok, could be good if they are really faithful to the original, but then I saw that Michael Bay is doing it and I have to echo the sentiment of everyone else here and say that that is the worst thing, ever.

Naomi Watts is great. But why the heck is Micheal Bay directing it??
And King Kong wasn't exactly a bomb, it got over 200 million at the box office if I remember correctly.

King Kong made $550 million worldwide at the box office and set a record for Universal Pictures by making another $100 million on DVD sales in its first 6 days of release. It will make at least another $100 million + in DVD sales with the upcoming release of its extended edition. Do you still think King Kong was a box office bomb? The next time you make such a statement, it would be a good idea to at least do a little research first.

I already knew this. But comparing it to Peter Jackson's previous films it can be called a bomb. The film suffered greatly in the US. Do you remember the rather unimpressive $9mil debut it had on it's opening wednesday? Do you remember week after week of hearing how Narnia killed it at the b.o.? The majority of the film's b.o. total was from foreign countries. The film bombed in the US! (Foreign b.o. saves these films. Look at what it did to Garfield 2...)

Saying King Kong was a box office bomb kind of leaves you no where to go. You really don't have a clue what you're talking about do you?

215 million isn't really bombing buddy. And its a remake, and also, a remake of one of the greatest movies of all time. People don't like to see remake. Espcially remakes of movies like that. I prefer the Peter Jackson film to be honest. And 100 million in DVD sales across the US isn't really bombing in the US either, is it?

How is Bay going to work big explosions and shitty character development into a Hitchcock remake? He's going to be totally out of his element.

All of these guys continue to work because they make money, which is all studios care about. Except Uwe Boll. I heard that there is some company in Germany that he partly owns or something, so he continues to make his movies that way, and distribute them in America...I dunno. But, sometimes, you just have to turn your brain off and have mindless, dumb movie fun. Except Michael Bay should die for thinking of making this movie over.

Excuse me!? Bay remaking a Hitchcock film. When did this happen? Is my crap-o-meter on the fritz again? When did this horrid idea come to pass?

I will NEVER give my money to a Bay film. Especially a remake of a film that doesn't need one.
