The Return of "Harold & Kumar"

It's a sequel that's been (mildly) discussed for quite some time now, but it seems that New Line is ready to get rolling on the as-yet-untitled "Harold & Kumar 2." And yes, both lead actors will be returning -- a rarity in New Line sequels.

From ComingSoon.net & Production Weekly: "Production Weekly reports that the sequel to 2004's Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle is planned for a late January start date in Shreveport, Louisiana. John Cho and Kal Penn are set to reprise their roles as Harold and Kumar, respectively.

In Harold & Kumar 2, the cross-country adventure follows the pot-smoking duo as they try to outrun the authorities after being suspected as terrorists when they try to sneak a bong on board a flight to Amsterdam.

The screenplay is by Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg, who wrote the first film's script and will co-direct the sequel."

Interesting trivia: In the UK, "Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle" is known as "Harold and Kumar Get the Munchies." (Cuz they don't have White Castle in England!)

but this movie would have been a huge smash if it was 2 white stoner dudes.
Very under rated movie, didnt do very well box office wise, happy to see a sequel.

according to American stereotypes its ok for asian poeple to fix your computers and help you with your math homework but no they never smoke weed or have fun or throw a party. yeah and its 2006? Are we sure about that?

yahh!!!
there was a lot of wit and much stoner humor in the first, also some clunking running gags, however there was also charm. and this has some potential to capture the first one's charm.

I don't think race has anything to do with it, it just wasn't that good; although I do like the two main actors so, I'm happy they're still working, they both need to do more stuff....the plot for this sequel sounds dumb though, like the first one's.

The original was probably one of the best surprises I ever got out of a rental. I was expecting nothing and what I got was an infintely watchable riot. It's one of those comfort movies you can watch anytime and it'll make you smile. Can't wait for the sequal. A Cheech & Chong for a new era whose characters are more than one-note stoner stereotypes. MEEKROB!!!

There was the same basic movie with two white stoners, it was called Dude, Where's my car?, and it sucked balls.

nope you're wrong. it was pure hilarity from start to finish. but you're right, it doesn't have anything to do with race, not when it comes to attracting audiences. there was certainly plenty of race related humor which cracked everyone up. it's just a movie about two fellas going from point A to point B with wacky hijinks in between. simple. classic. utterly hilarious.

anyway if it were two white guys it'd been crap. so much of it only works the way it is. stop trying to ruin a wonderful comedy.

hehehehehe sweet, loved the first one for the sheer insanity of it all and the compleate randomness of the situations, like riding a cheetah, or flying a hangglider, or rocking out to wilson philips, or pot induced animated dreams ( ah, bullets, my only weakness!). im totally phyced to see it, i can't wait. i just wish it was in amsterdam so i could be "Harold and Kumar go to Amsterdam"

i really liked this movie to be honest. I'm glad they're making another one. I think I like the whole minority, funny typa thing goin on, with stereotypical references, an cliche actions that doesn't mock nething per se, it's just fn funny.

Waited ages to hear this and i am so happy.
The film is so funny - the cheetah bit was side splitting funny! And i think the fact that they werent white stoner dudes made it even funnier!
