Time to Start Thinking About "Shrek 4"
by Scott Weinberg | November 02, 2006
Discuss Article
With "Shrek the Third" only about six months away, it's only logical that this news would hit the wire: Production on "Shrek 4" will begin sooner than later ... although the flick won't hit theaters until 2010. (2010??!!?)

From ComingSoon.net: "DreamWorks Animation reported its earnings for the third quarter of 2006 on Tuesday and revealed that Shrek 4 will hit theaters in 2010. Also, the Puss in Boots movie, previously expected to go straight to DVD, will instead be a theatrical release sometime after Shrek 4.

"'Puss in Boots' is a unique creative property that has the potential to be a valuable extension of the 'Shrek' franchise," stated Jeffrey Katzenberg, CEO of DreamWorks Animation. "We are excited to be developing this into a feature film where we think it has the greatest opportunity.""

"Shrek the Third" hits theaters May 18, 2007 and features the vocal talents of Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz, Eddie Murphy, Julie Andrews, John Cleese, Antonio Banderas, Eric Idle, Cheri Oteri, Ian McShane, Regis Philbin, Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph, John Krasinski, Amy Sedaris, Rupert Everett, and Justin Timberlake!

Four is overkill. I doubt at that point it'll really be that good. Still, if they continue to make this much money, they're probably going to go on forever.

I like the Shrek movies. I think it's a wise decision to release the Puss in Boots movie in theaters, plus that means it won't be complete shit.

I might be dead by 2010. If I am I'll take comfort in the fact I didn't have to see Shrek 4

The second was way better than the first. It'll be interesting. If you don't want a fourth movie, don't go watch it when it comes out.

You might as well have gone ahead and posted that a fourth time to illustrate your point.

I was turned off from the Shrek movies ever since I heard that Justin Timberlake would play a major role in Shrek 3.

Im not a fan of JT but he has not had any of hiis films released (yet) so no-one can judge 100% on his acting/voice over abilities. And he is 100 tiems better than K-fed appearing everywhere. At least JT made his own fame!
The shrek films arent masterpieces but are harmless fun and a good way to pass 2 hours. Id rather see a shrek film than a film full of guns and drugs etc. Sometiems we need to escape and Shrek films are good to do that in.

May 21st, 2010!! Can't wait!!
The Shrek flicks aren't the greatest of all time, but they've been a lot better than most of the crap that's released these days and remain some of the better animated flicks around. Or would anyone prefer Robots 2?

I for one am already marking my calendar: Friday, May 21, 2010!!
