"National Treasure 2" Starts Shooting Next Year

We knew it was coming, so don't act surprised: Nicolas Cage and the gang will be returning for a "National Treasure" sequel. Production gets underway in January. Yay.

"National Treasure" producer Jerry Bruckheimer told MTV production on the highly-anticipated adventure sequel is underway.

From MTV: "I met with Nic yesterday, and it's getting very close," superproducer Jerry Bruckheimer said of "National Treasure 2." "We're going to start filming in January."

Discussing the flick's script, Bruckheimer revealed: "It's another little treasure hunt, and this time it involves [Abe] Lincoln and John Wilkes Booth and 18 pages which are actually missing from [Booth's] diary."

Teasing the plot further, Bruckheimer posed the central question of the sequel. "What was in those 18 pages?" he asked."

"National Treasure" director Jon Turteltaub (who also directed the seminal "3 Ninjas" in 1992) will also helm the sequel, and castmembers Cage, Diane Kruger, Justin Bartha, Harvey Keitel, and Jon Voight are returning to the hunt. Remember, they're not treasure hunters, they're treasure protectors.

Ok it's true. I like Nic Cage movies, but I dislike Nic Cage. Face Off, The Rock, even Raising Arizona.
He still creeps me out though. His insanity must make him a great artist

Back in the days, everyone thought National Treasure was a Da Vinci Code ripoff. Now that the Da Vinco Code movie sucks, National Treasure seems a lot more exciting.

im looking forwrad to this. National Treasure was a fun movie and i love treasure hunts. It was 10 times better than the da VInci code where you didnt care if they solved it or not.
And a sequel isnt needed as such but that doesn't matter. As long as the film is good then its ok by me
