George Miller Discusses the Future of "Mad Max"
by Scott Weinberg | November 03, 2006
Discuss Article
Mel Gibson recently stated that he wouldn't be returning for any more "Lethal Weapon" or "Mad Max" sequels, but director George Miller seems somewhat confident that Max's fourth adventure could still become a reality.

From Dark Horizons: "Talking with In Focus Mag, director George Miller confirmed that once he's finished with a small film he's got to do - "Max" will get underway.

""Mad Max 4" is so prepared, there seems to be a lot of momentum for it to get done... In what form and so on, I don't know. But it hasn't gotten stale in the meantime, and I'm very very keen to do it. It seems like there's the appetite out there... That's about all I can say at the moment"."

Click here for more, including a brief explanation as to how "MM4" almost got started -- and then died.

Miller might as well jump on the band wagon and just remake the first Mad Max with an unknown in the lead (or some other B-list actor).

hmmm... Mad Max without Max? Yeah, I'm not so sure this will work.

I've always wanted to know what happened to max after he was left by the plane but without mel gibson it wouldn't make much sense unless he found a woman and had a child.

What is with these directors trying to relive their glory days by revisiting their old movies? George, you've made some great movies. You've moved onto...well, Happy Feet. Good for you, now leave well enough alone.

Why Not?
I always bitch about remakes but I think that done properly Mad Max 4 could be a winner. I'd love to see David Fincher take on directing the disgruntled Aussie killing machine. Max really is one of the great reluctant hero's. I can imagine few men capable of filling his shoes but a-la Superman Returns just get an unknown that looks like Mel. I'm sure there's one out there. Just don't call it Mad Max 4.

road warrior
If he makes another I want it to be the same tone as road warrior. Thunderdome was just too soft and sentimental for me; we need a brutal, hard mad max like he was in road warrior.

I agree that a Mad Max remake would be awesome. Maybe with Josh Hartnett in lead. But with Mad Max 4, we need Mel period. Come on Melly baby, if Harrison can do it why can't you?
