Trailer Bulletin: David Fincher's "Zodiac"

Summary

Doesn't it stink when one of your favorite directors makes only two or three flicks per decade? Sometimes the good ones move really slow, but hey, David Fincher's "Zodiac" is finally getting ready to be released ... I think. Either way, there's a brand-new trailer that's worth checking out. I think the music didn't match what was going on in the scenes. It wouldn't be the first time music ruined a film for me. Kull the Conqueror and Highlander- The Final Dimension are just two examples. Let's just hope the music is not in the final cut of the film.

It's almost as if it went from a serious movie to seeming like it was a comedy. or maybe they were trying to go with something like in Silence of the Lambs where the music was happy but the scene was not (with Buffalo Bill at the end) who know for sure. But I will check out the film anyway, regardless of this trailer.

The movie is based on a true story and two great books Zodiac and Zodiac Unmasked written by one of the characters in the movie. Looking forward to it.

Very odd music choice indeed, but it looks interesting and hopefully Fincher's direction from Se7en and Fight Club will rub off onto this film as well.

Knowing Fincher. the music was appropriate. The song is "(I Know) I'm Losing You" by Rod Stewart, which I believe was popular during the Zodiac timeframe. Perhaps it plays a role in the film.

I actually thought the music choise was pretty cool. It almost reminded me of The Departed.

You know, if the Departed was a serial killer movie.

I don't know if I saw the same trailer as you peeps - because I couldn't view it throught the link - so I went to YouTube to see it. But "I Know I'm Losing You" by Faces seemed PERFECT to me. Not only is the music from the era, but it suggests the mood of the film BIG TIME - they can't find the killer. What's the problem?

this isn't really a serial killer movie in the sense of Seven.
this is about the 4 guys investigating it. I think a lot of people
will go to this expecting a disturbing horror show like Seven was.

Not going to be the case. It looks great. Nice to see Fincher doing something a little different
than what people expect from him.

Hard8 has it partially correct. I went to an advanced screening of the film last night at my local AMC theatre, 11/27/06. I was invited on Wednesday before seeing The Fountain.

We were asked to fill out a survey on the film and unfortunately I missed out on the Focus group. I know that some films shown in this way are unfinished or have bad or no music, missing special effects but I did not see anything that was "off". The sets and locations are all over the Bay area the few effects look complete to me. The music was subtle but ever-present and seemed to match the pacing and moods of the film.

I do not want to spoil anything but wanted to say that the character intros and development are more than enough to keep you interested just like Seven did. The music in the film was appropriate and not anything like what some of the previous posts were saying. Cuddlyboy has it right! Also, I do think there are some funny aspects and scenes but they do not take away from the film. I have heard that after listening to focus groups, they change things like length and endings but felt that overall it was well done and could be released now.

Does anyone know the exact version (album title) of I Know I'm Losing You by Rod Stewart and Faces used in the Zodiac trailier? I haven't seen the movie yet. The Zodiac soundtrack CD doesn't have this cut on it.
