Irwin Winkler Says "Rocky Balboa" Works
Summary
"Home of the Brave" director Irwin Winkler, who produced all of the Rocky movies, made a pretty convincing sales pitch for this holiday's Rocky Balboa. Though it may seem like a last gasp for an aging action star, Winkler promises a worthwhile film experience. Back to Article

mizzoucritic writes: on Nov 27 2006 01:39 AM I'll probably see it during the holidays with family. It looks to be in the same class as a lot of other PG-sports movies, but with a nostalgic kick. Everyone can go to it. And it looks much, much better than Rocky V. P.S. Those who are interested in this movie should check out Premiere's latest issue. It has a great article about Stallone and the film. (Reply to this) |

poedude99 writes: on Nov 27 2006 04:38 AM rocky! rocky! rocky! i am very much looking forward to this... the Rocky series is pretty good, each film is pretty faithful to boxing history in its own way... even Rocky 4 was a good prediction as to the "rise" of the 7 foot Russian champ boxers and a small comment on drugs in sports.... i'm gonna be first in line. check out my Philly based free weird fiction and video: www.savagerun.com (Reply to this) |

toniokruger writes: on Nov 27 2006 05:01 AM Rocky I still brings me to tears It's definetely my comfort film. I've watched it ,like, 85 times, and everytime i got into THAT finale (when Apollo wins and yet we just focus on Rocky yelling 'ADRIAAAAAAN !') i can never hold my tears. If Rocky Balboa can even reach 0.001% of Rocky 1 impact, i'd still be very happy (Reply to this) |

mojodaddy writes: on Nov 27 2006 05:39 AM That would be cool is it's actually decent, so then this can be the last movie and the franchise can end in a positive way. (Reply to this) |

I live on the outskirts of Philly, and you'd be surprised by how many people are starting to come around to the idea that this one could be good....like myself. Here's to hoping it's good!! aconline writes: on Nov 27 2006 02:08 PM On 2 polls that I have seen and taken, this is the number one movie people are looking forward to this December. I agree with them. Other than Apocalypto, this is the only other movie I really care to see this holiday season. Well, maybe Casino Royale a few more times. (Reply to this) |

Rock_The_Luau writes: on Nov 27 2006 04:15 PM Could you verify on the meaing of the word "scarificing"? I'm not as educated as you, so I don't understand your eloquent use of the English language. Anyway, This seems like good news. But the trailer I saw is still kinda making me uneasy. But we'll see. (Reply to this) |

Doomherald writes: on Nov 27 2006 09:17 PM I think the irony of Antonio Tarver being "the champ" in this movie after being so completely thrashed by Bernard Hopkins is delicious. I especially enjoyed Stallone being there and kissing Tarver's ass in the pre-fight interview. Shoulda gone with an actual actor you fool. How the hell is this guy believable as HW Champ after being taken apart by a 40 year old natural middle-weight? In a completely one sided ass whuppin? I realize of course that it's a movie after all, but it kills the set-up for me. Might as well have brought Ali in. That mofo probably still has more charisma than this idiot. (Reply to this) |

Defmonkey writes: on Nov 28 2006 11:57 AM Its gonna be a Match of Heart Thats the only way I can see Rocky winning the Match. Having more Heart. Because, he's facing somebody who is in shape and is still boxing. Just thinking about it logical like that Rocky should lose. But Since Rocky has alot of Heart. And I bet he'll put it all in the fight. That is the only possible way he can win. This could be a good Rocky movie. (Reply to this) |
