"Indiana Jones" Returns...Again!
Action-adventure fans rejoice! Producer George Lucas has announced that "Indiana Jones 4" (sequel #3, if you're counting) will begin filming in 2007!
After finishing the script with Steven Spielberg, Lucas told the Associated Press that he expects the latest edition of the much-loved franchise to be "fantastic...the best one yet."

Ford in 1984's "Temple of Doom"
Harrison Ford will once again play the lead, revisiting a character that his performance in 1981's "Raiders of the Lost Ark" made an icon. The 64-year-old Ford said at the inaugural Rome Film Festival in October that he was excited about the project and hoped that he was "fit to continue" to play Indiana Jones despite his age. It's tough to say what effect age will have on the story, but Lucas -- who has kept the plot under wraps -- has divulged that the latest action flick will be a "character piece."

Ford in his most recent "action" flick, this year's "Firewall"
This highly anticipated sequel has been in development for over a decade, but perhaps the success of other character-driven action films like "Casino Royale" and "Batman Begins" prompted the completion of the screenplay and a push for production.
So far, web speculation has pegged key series stars to return, including Karen Allen ("Raiders"' Marian Ravenwood), Kate Capshaw ("Temple"'s Willie Scott), John Rhys-Davies (perennial Indy pal Sallah), and Sean Connery (Dr. Jones Sr. from "The Last Crusade").
"Indy 4" is expected to hit theaters in May 2008.

Xhrix writes: on Dec 29 2006 06:50 PM As long as they don't try to overdo the special effects, and keep the performances in the forefront, this should be great film, as long as nobody lets Lucas anywhere near the project after he finishes the rough draft framework of the script. Just to hear that bullwhip crack in surround sound, and see that dusty fedora and devilish grin, will make my 2008 a good year to look forward to (Reply to this) |

Isn't he gonna be portrayed as 90 or something of that sort?? How old is Sean Connery anyway? (too lazy to make a wikipedia search) 2008 here I wait! (Reply to this) |

Muddler writes: on Dec 29 2006 10:19 PM I can't tell you how much I hope this is a good movie. I used to be a big Ford fan - back when he made truly good movies instead of Hollywood Crapicide. Still, is this news? I thought it was pretty well settled that Indy 4 was about to be made and would be out in the next year or two. My one worry - Lucas. After the Star Wars prequels, if I hear "Lucas told the Associated Press that he expects the latest edition of the much-loved franchise to be "fantastic...the best one yet," all I can think of is Bush telling Brownie he's doing a heck of a job. It's the kiss of death. (Reply to this) |
