Olyphant Pursues "Hitman" Contract
Timothy Olyphant has been linked to the movie based on the "Hitman" video game, though he says there is no official contract, pun intended. He's in talks though, and hopes it comes together.
"It sounds fun," he said. "It sounds pretty cool. I’ve seen the pictures. I’ve never played the game but it looks cool. Lord knows what I’d look like when this hair comes off. It’s a major concern."
Video games have not often made great films, but Olyphant believes the talent backing "Hitman" could make the difference. "I think you start with the script and ask yourself who is going to tell that story and, if I’m not mistaken you’ve got Luc Besson right now whose done very good movies in that genre. La Femme Nikita. I remember walking around for weeks just saying, ‘La Femme Nikita’. That was just such a good movie. Gosh, that was great and then The Professional, I just watched The Professional again two weeks ago. It’s a good movie. I haven’t seen the long version. I hear that’s unbelievable where he goes and kills people with her? I haven’t seen it. It’s such a great sweet story. You know what I mean? It’s a metaphor for parenthood in this warped way. You’re trying to teach your children how to survive without you. It’s really quite something."
As for Hitman, it's still all talk. "There’s been conversation."

bribios writes: on Jan 18 2007 11:36 AM Im still gonna say David Bateson is 47, even if Olyphant does a good job. Still though, it's way better then Diesel or Statham. The reasoning behind those two is about as good as the reasoning for Patrick Stewart to play the part, what with all of them being bald and white. I think this movie has great potential, at least for a video game movie. Based on nothing at all i could see it scoring in the 60's on the T-meter, which would be phenomenal for a game movie. Oh, and deranged would be the wrong personality trait for the character. What makes 47 interesting is how practical and rational he is about his profession. (Reply to this) |
