Russell Crowe As Good Nottingham vs. Evil Robin Hood!

Summary

Last time we were offered a big-budget "Robin Hood" movie, it starred Kevin Costner and his ill-fitting accent. But now comes a 'revisionist' take on the classic tale, only this time the Sheriff of Nottingham will get to be the good guy. Oh, and he'll be played by Russell Crowe. Back to Article

Christian Bale is above and beyond the best choice but ill always settle for Clive Owen...and Sean Bean aint a bad idea either

This sounds like a good idea. Hope Carmen Electra plays Maid Marian.

actually... technically robin hood was a bad guy... He stole from people, he's a thief. It's like drugdealers. They just sell drugs to get money to feed themselves, but they're labeled as bad guys and a menace to society.

and carmen electra is a terrible idea. Unless they plan for a comedy. In which, Cary Elews as Robin Hood again

sounds like you know nothing about movies.

carmen would make a perfect marian. carmen is an excellent actress but it never showed cus she was always upstaged by david hasselhoff.

hmmm, maybe the hoff would make an genius evil robin.

and indeed robin is a crook and a thief maybe they should do a modern version of this movie:
robin of da hood, the brave pimp that steals crack from rich ass gangstas and gives it to all his poor ho's

I agree with the Liam Neeson and Paul Giamatti sentiments. I'm less enthused with the Christian Bale selection. I've never really thought of him as the slick, charming type. He's more of a brute instrument than anything else. Even in the Prestige, when he's doing magic, he's a physical guy.

I like the Sean Bean idea whole lot more.

Now, if Viggo was King Richard, that might be cool.

Good call, Johnny Depp and Russell Crowe in the same movie, all the other male actors might as well just give up come oscar time. Libertine Johnny Depp as Robin Hood, sans oozing puss of course, I'm there and whoever made the Drug dealer statement I hope you were attempting to be ironical otherwise that was the dumbest thing I've heard today.

But Sean Bean would do well too.

Steal from the rich and give to the poor. Then the poor will be rich and the rich will be poor.

Benicio del Toro as Robin Hood.
He's not supposed to be charming, or sexy, or handsome; he's supposed to be a criminal, intelligent enough to always stay one step ahead than Beautiful Mind's genius Russell Crowe.

I don't know it sounds interesting but I always enjoyed it the way it was. Crowe should be good in it though.

Snipes .

Chuck Norris couldn't act himself out of a paper bag, which is why his career has been reduced to 30 second clips of totally corny moments of Walker Texas Ranger on Late Night with Conan O'brien. If you people truly think Chuck Norris is a talented actor then there are more crazy people in the world than I thought. But seriously, Christian Bale sounds like a good choice to me, Johnny Depp would be interesting but Robin Hood isn't a weird enough character for Depp, Depp only plays incredibly strange characters.

Guy Pearce.

And Robin's always been an anti-hero of sorts. It's not that much of a stretch to see him as a villain from a different perspective. At least, as long as they don't make it so one-sided and cliche.

this is jst wrong...having grown up with the lore of RH (Im from Uk) to swap it around is just stupid, and makes the whole business of the crusades and why RH was away irrelevant, and in theory, although he stole he was only taking back what was rightfully theirs and stolen from them. 2 wrongs dont make a right but hey what 'thief' would you choose!
Hey, im a sad b***h anyway as RHPOT is my fave film ever, but at least they kept with the spirit and mythology of the story.
Rah...im not happy

Why does it make the Crusades irrelevant? I'm sure many of the Crusaders came back and became highwaymen and not the "rob from the rich" or Waylon Jennings/Kris Kristoferson variety.

ok irrelevant was the wrong word..i was annoyed !! I just dont think they should change the basis of the story....show it from a different angle but dont swap characters around.
Though im sure most of the crusaders would have backed RH and not the sheriff....hey go to Nottingham and see for yourself!!!

True enough in the context of the original story, but I don't think making a thief into a bad guy would be the greatest special effect in movie history...that title goes to the fight scene where Bruce Lee appears to beat Chuck Norris in a fight :)

P.S. I've been to the Robin Hood Festival in Nottingham and take your meaning. Those people are still ticked about the historical inaccuracies and Kevin Costners accent in Prince of Thieves :)
